I am getting ready to set out my trail cams. I am sure that some of you already have yours out. Some of you may not set yours out until closer to hunting season. Let's see what most of you are doing.
For deer, I put mine out in mid or late July. It's hot and the mosquitoes can be bad but by then you can get a good idea what the rack will have for characteristics. Salt licks are getting hit then along with the summer food plots. I will move them around quite a bit to hit all of my many hunting spots in hopes of finding out what is out there and I’ll leave them out until the bucks shed their antlers in March of next year.

I think it may be interesting if to share with all of us the reasons you set your trailcams out when you do. What are the positives or the negatives?

Since getting into the homebrews I have become hopelessly addicted to checking them...for anything!
Perhaps some day I'll tire of it but there is so much wildlife out there besides just deer that I have a ball having them out year around.
The new lithium batteries and higher capacity memory sticks let me leave them out literally for months.
Can't get a pic of a bobcat, badger, or some other oddity if they are sitting in the closet!
