Trapping 2024-25

My trapping season started Friday when I helped Matthewfox_45 set some of his line. Then I set 2 coyote traps and a few blind 220s in hopes of some otters.

My first check yesterday resulted in some frozen traps and a muskrat. I reset the two coyote traps.
Today I caught the one coyote I was after, I gave him a hair cut in October with the bow. This is my second “white” one on two years

Nice! I saw 4, maybe 5, muskrats swimming in my pond yesterday at the farm. I can't remember when I last caught a muskrat, but I am going to go to war on them next weekend!! :)

Coyotes are high on my list to trap- feel like I never have time to do it right and dont have anyone real close around me that traps em to learn either.

We had two ponds until the muskrats moved in. Now we have one. . Think they tunneled to a sand vein on the one.

Trapped 21 out of the surviving pond that year. Keeping an eye out for their return, I’ll pound them any time of year.

Always love following this thread. I have never trapped but think it's super interesting and wish I had time to do it.

Are they talking much of a market for coons this year? I know reducing coon numbers is primary but didn’t know if anyone will but them? Most I have talked to either aren’t buying or are pretty low on the big sizes.

Looking at a $4-$5 average for green.. couple guys buying full carcass.
