Traveling Distance

I have recently begun another painful search for land in Northeast/Northcentral Iowa, and have exhausted almost all options. I have finally located a piece of property I am interested in and that is ACTUALLY AVAILABLE!!! Problem is I am used to hunting much closer to home. Usually I hunt within 25 or 30 mins of my home. This piece(although it is exactly what I am looking for, I think ) is about 2 hours away! So how far does everyone normally travel to their land? Before I lease I want to find out if I would be joining what others do, or if I would be a complete idiot!

I hunt on three pieces of ground. The main one is about an hour, the second is about an hour and a half, and the third is about two and half hours. I don't mind driving to have the opportunity to hunt where I do. Good luck.

Primary spot is 1 hour, 2 backup spots are 30 minutes, and when I'm blessed with an IA NR tag, it's 5 1/2 hours.

2 hours from Des Moines to Iowa City...that puts me about half an hour from my "spots". So I'm running 2.5 hours one way with a 2002 Explorer getting 18 miles a gallon...NOT A GOOD EQUATION, but what's a guy to do. I've gotta hunt.

It is an hour for me, but we plan on moving this year, so it will soon be 2 hours.

walk out my back door and go for a 1/2 mile walk. climb tree. hunt.

my other locations are about 3-5 minutes from my house...but technically they are about an hour from my apt in cedar falls since they are in charles city...but i have four day weekends so i make it back to see my mom a lot during the season :grin: :grin:, all of the ground that i hunt is our ground and it is on a section the is adjacent to the cedar river so it is oddly shaped there is only one side that has the full straght mile the other roads kind of make a cresent.
