The local REC, rural electric company, gave us all the poles we wanted for free. They had a pile of old poles out by their shop and we grabbed 6 or 7 of them. Make sure you bring some muscle they are extremely heavy. The ones we got were treated with something, but were old enough that they weren't covered with it. $350 sound pretty cheap for a new pole, I'm in the process of building a new house and unfortunately I have power provided by mid-America, first estimate was over 2k for one pole, 400 ft of underground line, and a transformer. If I could get power from the REC it would have been less than a third of that.
