Treestand relief?

There are so many bigger issues to think about when hunting today. Calling tactics and not thinking outside the box educate deer quickly.

I used to call pretty close to dark and then I hung around one night to watch the buck I was after cut my trail and piece the whole thing together. Needless to say, he did not show up in that area in the daylight again. Live and learn...

It is a hoot when hunting close to one fo my neighbors. It sounds like a non-stop orgy of rattling, grunting, and wheezing the entire time he is in the stand. It is fun to listen to...

I have been alternating between "letting it fly" and using a bottle each year. Haven't noticed much difference in terms of numbers of deer seen, but not sure that is hard evidence. Don't see a ton of deer most times anyway. Last year tho, my wife said I was nuts for peeing in a bottle and thought it was gross. Haven't taken a bottle with me this year, but also haven't had to go on stand yet either. Usually try to empty the bladder before heading in.

One thing to note...if you decide to climb down to relieve yourself away from your stand instead of up the tree, take your bow. A few years ago I heard of a guy missing a chance at a good buck because his bow was up the tree when he was on the ground! Also, if you're hunting in a ground blind, I would suggest stepping outside first!

How often do you rattle or call mr expert?

How often do you rattle or call mr expert?

Honestly, very little. We hunt an area that is saturated with hunters so we have to try to slip in and out without being noticed and catch them on their feet. This is the 15th season of hunting this area and we have a pretty good handle on the travel routes and habits.
