Thanks so much for the replies everyone. Trent just glows when I read your responses to him. He has really enjoyed the experience entirely including the skinning and processing yesterday. He decided that he wanted to give half of his meat to our neighbor, an avid hunter who cannot hunt this year due to an almost life ending motorcycle accident this summer.

Thanks again!

Sounds like a class act kid ya got there! My 6yr old is chomping at the bit to be able to "shoot" his own deer and not just watch. Showed this post to my wife and guess who gets to go shopping for his son's first muzzy /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif.

Congrats to the young man and yourself for taking the time to show him the sport.

Hey Wayne, this is Layton, I'm a member now, tell Trent good job, at first I didn't know it was him but after looking at the picture, asking mom and dad how old he was, and reading about his sister shooting hers, then seeing I think it was you're '04 buck at the top of the screen, I figured it out, but go ahead and tell Trent good job, wish me good luck also, this fall I made a shot at a nice 8-point buck but I was nervous, and my hand holding the bow was shaking but at full draw but off of reflex, I made a shot but from what dad said, it was high and back nothing but fatty tishue, found a little blood but no deer, we waited a couple of weeks and did another morning hunt on a Sat. morning after the first snow of '07, did some calling and that same buck came in, then it had a half rack, dad told me we weren't going to try anything, I needed a fullrack, some how dad told me he thinks god had that buck come in because it was supposed to me mine, I say thats god's way of saying, not this year, this year just get your addrenaline (buck fever) undercontrol, if you would have seen me that morning or anytime that a deer came in this year, you would be thinking that same thing, main point, just wanted to give Trent a congrats on his first deer, maybe with hope and a little bit of luck it will happen for me next year, see you some time around, good job on your buck (kick stand) bye.

Layton.
