Tripled Up on the first night!

Our old house was full of mice. I’d trap several every winter. The detached garage always had mice too. We had several outside cats that I think helped keep the rodent population down but not enough to earn their keep. When we moved to the new house and buried the old house the outside cats moved with us. This is now a non-domesticated cat free zone so there aren’t any non-domesticated cats around, OK, there is BD2 but he will fall victim to my trapping prowess any year now. Anyway, the old garage is now so full of mice there was no way to keep the traps baited and empty not to mention I saw a chipmunk in there one day. I put out 4 trays of poison. A couple of weeks later it reeked of death in the garage and all the bait trays were empty. I replaced them with fresh trays. A few days later the trays were empty again so I replaced them again. Now every time I open a box or pull out a drawer in my tool box I find piles of poison. I will be trying the bucket method and hope I never beat bowman’s record. Leave it to ‘Bonkerville mice to evolve to be poison proof in one generation. Little bastards.

Decisions, decisions. Should I use my spare bucket to make a mouse trap or another coon set?

If you're going to do something 'Bonker, go for the record. What's worth doing, is worth doing well and better than the other guy.

You don't understand, if I got the record that means my garage is worse than anybody elses. I do got some pride. Not much, but some.

You think mice are bad? When we moved into our farmhouse it had been vacant for 4 years and they had left some some dry foods in the basement and there was atleast a rat or two in the place. I nipped the mice off quick with traps and the dogs outside helped keep them out too but the rat took months. And this all was happening without my wifes knowledge.
One day I got off work at 8 am and poisoned the whole house and passed out on the couch. When i woke up in the afternoon there was rat poop on the ARM REST OF THE COUCH! That did it for me, that damn thing was inches from my face in my sleep, and we had never even seen the bastard!
So I did some serious scouting looking for its hideout, I found a drawer that was built into a closet that we didnt use that had some crackers and a nest made a few large turds and I set the mega trap.
Two days later I checked the drawer and to my surprise it was open about an inch. Uh oh. The trap was gone. Moments later the trap goes flying across to the desk and through the door. I find it wedged into the entertainment center... This is a rat trap by the way and I had both back legs in it. I used my pellet gun coupe de grace to the back of the head. After that I never had another mouse or rat and its been a year and a half. The outside dogs help a lot I think and just having a clean house.

After telling my story to the neighbor he said that he didn't think he had any rats in his house once but he had a bunch of mice so he set out the 5 gallon bucket trap with grease in the bottom and wire going over the top to a wooden plank that would dump them into the bucket. He caught 6 rats in a week! ANd 13 in a couple months! They're extra sneaky like a mature whitetail.
