used muzzleloader

For x-mas my mom bought my dad a knight .45 disc extreme muzzleloader, stainless flutted barrel, and a thumbhole stock. She bought it at a sporting goods store i won't mention(at jordan creek) and the salesman had told her that he had used a gun like that on a deer hunt down at knight rifle place.(turns out it was the same gun he sold her). On x-mas day dad opens his new gun and was so excited about what she had bought him. As he is going through the box he notices that the breach plug wrench is missing and doesn't think much of it. then he trys to put the screws for the scope mount in and they are stripped. he gets the breach plug out with a socket set and a lot of powder residue falls out and it appeared to be shot a lot with out being cleaned. it also had scratches where a scope had been mounted. took it back and they gave him a hard time about returning it but after an hour they finally gave him his money back. i feel that they took advantage of her because she doesn't know much about firearms and what to look for. has this type of thing happened to anyone else? i know that i wont buy anything from that store again. they acted like my folks were the ones in the wrong. anyway sorry this is so long it was just disappointing and wanted to vent a little. has anyone had that happen there?

You have to be shittin, tell us who it was so we can stay away from them or at least the people that live close by can. If they did this then they deserve what they get out of it.

I assume that you returned this gun. If not, get right back to the store, and find a manager there. I don't think they will want this kind of bad press on their store, and will hopefully make it right with you.

Yea, that sounds like a bunch of BS, taking advantage of your mom like that. I see it happen to my mom all the time, as to where I go with her when getting repairs on vehicles and such. They definatly should make it more than right for your parents.

I wouldn't want to see Rudd mad

Theres a store up here if your looking for a new one. The guy has kight disk stainless black synthetic with thumbhole in 45 ca. brandnew.Tag says $5oo something He is selling them for 230.00. I heard he is selling his business. PM me if your interested and Ill give you his number.

I bought my Encore there and had no problems, but I also delt with one of the Managers Ed. I would call him and let him know who the jerk off salesman was.

I would call the press if they didn't completely satisfy you with their responce. If this is a standard practice the public needs to know. It just isn't right to sell anything as new if it is used. Sounds like they need a Bargain Cave or we should shop where there is one.

hey G6, no need for him to list the name.

you might want to contact knight, and tell them of what one of their vendors tried to pull.

Yes, I have. Not with a gun but with a red dot scope. The one that is on my pistol. I called them to see if they had one and the salesman said yes we have about twelve of them. I asked him to set one aside for me and put my name on it and I would be in later to pick it up. I showed up asked for the salesman and he handed me the box with my name on it. Paid for it went out to the truck and opened it up to look at it. The box was taped shut on both ends just like it was brand new. I opened it and noticed that the battery was out of the package it was in. I put the battery in and turned it on it was dead I could barley make out the dot reticle even turned up to the brightest setting. I then noticed the mounts three of the four allen head screws were stripped and the fourth one had been drilled out. The allen wrench wouldn’t even turn the screws they were so stripped. I immediately went back in and asked for an exchange. Then it took three guys and 15 minutes to decide what to do. They didn’t want to exchange it. They thought I did it. I finally got the cashier and she told them that I had just purchased it about 15 minutes ago. I was mad enough now I told them that I just wanted my money back. They called the manger down and he apologized for the situation. He did however wind up exchanging me for a new one and took $15.00 off the price so they did make it right. I agree with you though that they tried to make me out to be the one that was wrong. So that’s two incidents any one else?

I'll list the name, because the Scheels in Coralville/Iowa City area has terrible customer service too. I have told myself that I will never make a major purchase from that store again, no guns, no bows, no blinds, optics, nothing, all over a $30 choke tube that I was suppose to get with my 10 gauge. You would think that after dropping 1000 bucks on a gun that a place would be a little willing to help you out so that you could actually shoot it, nope not them. After 5 attempts with different associates, including a manager I finally told the final guy that it is too bad that they will loose my business over a 30 dollar choke tube, and he just laughed. I couldn't freakin believe it. When the store first opened, they had several knowledgeable associates working in the firearms section, now the guys working up there couldn't tell you the difference between their ass and a hole in the ground. Well enough of me going off, but I say if you want to get ripped off on a trade (never have but have heard what they give for trades), pay more than you should, and get treated like chit, be loyal to Scheels, it will happen.

me and my brother in law went into scheels this weekend in west des moines looking to buy some 9mm rounds waited and stood around for 1/2 an hour saw a couple guys walk buy do you think they would stop and ask us if we needed help no..we even asked for help and noone came they said they would be there but no show....he had an associate from another department help him to get a pistol... The associate stated he was from shoes...

on a good note i stopped at sportsmans in ankeny and me and the wife couldnt look with out having someone stop and ask us if we neede help..excellent customer service at sportsmans

Man guys you have to contact the manager out there. I had a little issue with my camo coats. I had them put the new Kisky Logo and my name on the jackets and hats. For some reason they used different color thread on the sample and it looked great, but when it went on the Jackets with the other color it looked weak. I wasn't happy and although I didn't cause a scene they understood how upset I was. To make a long story short they bought me new camo coats and revamped the logo (more stiches) to make it look fuller. I not only got the new jackets free of charge, I also got the old jackets back.

They have a customer for life with me. At least I feel the went above and beyond what they had to for me.
