velvet shed

Talked to a truck driver last night who saw a small buck with velvet hanging off. Seems a little early but he's a guy you can believe. Anyone else see any hard horn yet?

We were driving home around midnight Sunday and about hit a small 8point. I could have swore he was shedding his velvet, but then again I did have quite a few to drink that night..... Could have been grass hanging off?...

I just saw a pretty nice buck in the ditch along Hwy 34 that had been hit. Still had velvet intact. I haven't seen any which have started to shed yet.

Just to update. That buck I saw in the ditch is still there but some crimnal decided to cut off the head and leave the rest. Now it is swollen to twice the size and still laying in the same spot, and the horns weren't that great. That doesn't say much for deer hunters in general, especially to those that don't hunt or like hunters.

Saw a mature 9 point a couple of days ago (Aug. 10) that had completely shed all velvet. I was able to glass him for several minutes on the edge of a bean field. He was hanging out with a younger buck which still had his velvet intact.

...earliest I've ever seen

We've seen two pretty good ones that have shed. The bucks with them are still in full velvet. Early achievers, I guess.

I checked my camera this morning, I didn't get anything big but they were all bucks. The ones that i got still have velvet. here is a pic of one, he'll be good in about 1 or 2 years
