this guy took several pics but this was a pretty good one to represent all of the blood from his velvet. im not 100% sure if it was natural peeling though but if it was then that is more bleeding than i thought there would be. you can see it down his back in other pics so idk what it is for sure. if its an injury it would not affect the antler too much... maybe a slight defect but it would add character. what do you guys think?

and what have you guys been seeing for velvet off? we got one small buck on camera that shed already and my girlfriend and i saw a very very nice i think 8 pointer today on the 4-wheeler right in the middle of our farm this morning that had his velvet off too. im more excited about seeing the buck itself though velvet or no velvet because he was NIIICE!! but that brings up our count to 3 so far. it almost seems just a tad early from last year and the year before though....

looks like he sliced his ear open to me. I know ears on a dog bleed alot from just a small cut. I'm betting this is the case here.

i gotta agree with 180. unless you have another pic with a better view. i can't see where the blood would have come from, if its off the rack. it looks like the ear is ripped. ears have alot of capilaries, and not much meat........bleed like hell.
cool pic
