Views from the stand 2021-22

I was surprised nothing came through this morning (NW Iowa).

Saw something in the stand tonight that I've never seen b4. Pardon my French... A rooster pheasant kicking the shit out of another rooster
Crazy things happen, reminded me watching a good buck coming my way when all of the sudden two feral tom cats got into a brawl next to my stand. That sent the buck to the next county with all that hissing and growling!

I'm glad it was only a spike. If it had been a shooter, I'd take up bird hunting again out of vengeance.

View this morning, took a nice doe.

decent but fairly slow. Could see way across this field. I “had” 2 stand locations around this area. I knew one of the stands was in a dead tree. Finally saw how dead it really was on way out. Was gonna get the stand on way out BUT…. Think I’ll need chainsaw after season. ;). A868DCEC-4977-404B-AD28-ECC8184271E5.jpeg50871730-3D6C-4EC2-B2B8-E2877C68867D.jpeg

Yikes. When's the last time you sat there? How high is it? Looks high!
Ha!! They are all high! I’d guess all mine are like 20’ to 30’ ?? A few 15’ & a few 35’ on extreme low & high range. I sat that tree in 2019. I got up & realized “uh oh, that’s dead!” Haven’t had time to go back & thought I’d quick climb up & grab it. There is a safety line!!! Tied to rotting tree trunk ;)

Beautiful crisp morning in the timber. Besides the botched opportunity
