WALLEYE!!!!!

The fishing trip went pretty good. Went with my brother, father in law and my uncle, we all got some big fish. We were fishing the Saskatchewan river, jjust drifting rigs and leeches in the fast current. The area we were in is famous here for big fish and even though a month from now is prime time, we still found quite a few big girls starting the frenzy before winter. This is the biggest one we got, I hooked her just at dark.

Here is a fairly decent one I got this morning, 28". Picked up four just like her in a real short time.

This old girl is bigger than she looks, she was built like a football up top and had some serious staying power when it came to staying on the bottom and running back down to 20 feet deep.

We didn't get into any pike b/c we didn't need to, 3 of the 4 set new personal bests for walleye. Man I'd like to be able to sneak back up there ina month and get into some real hawgs.

Just curious about the lengths and weights of the fish you were catching? Great looking fish! I just got back from Ontario but we only caught one like those.

Those look like some Magnums Kaare! Makes my mouth water just looking at them.
A friend of mine was up in Canada a couple years ago fishing for muskie after dark. He hooked what he thought was a little one and it ended up being a walleye that weighed a little over 15 lbs. He actually tried to release it but it went belly up so he had it mounted. He likes to act like it was no big deal. I'm no walleye fisherman, are 15+ lb'ers common up there?

You are a lucky man Kaare! Beautiful scenery and awesome fish! I can smell those fillets frying in some hot oil with some taters wrapped in foil siting in the fire coals. A cold beverage in hand and the sun setting over the crystal water....somebody pinch me! Congrats on a great trip.

Good god, I would hate to see how big they get in a month. Tremendous eyes there Kaare, when can I come to Canada and fish with you

Believe it or not we didn't eat a single fish. Actually, where we were fishing you cannot keep a walleye between 22 and 32". This lake gets quite a bit of pressure for their trophy fish so they like to keep them. In the fall it is not uncommon to whack more than a few from 13 to 18 pounds.

Shredder, we didn't even try for northerns as we found the big eyes but talking to a guy from North Dakota that was up fishing, they were on, he got 8 between 12 and 20 pounds in an evening. We've got some great spots up here for fishing but for big fish, this one takes the cake.

those are some amazin walleye, my favorite fish to eat. I'm glad you at least caught the one i let go last time
