So, just curious how many of you have had trouble with wasps or hornets this fall? Finishing up putting pull ropes and trimming this weekend and ran into a few nests. The last one was this afternoon and I had made it 12 ft when I looked closer and it looked like the inside of my mesh seat was moving. I could see a softball sized nest inside and what looked like shadows darting back and forth. So, I "slowly" climbed down, had a couple "dive bombers" but not stings. Went to walmart and bought the 25 ft spray and hit the seat a couple times but not sure how well and couldn't get inside. Has anybody had experience with these little guys or if that will get them gone? Thought about climbing up there at night as I've heard they can't see at night but then again..being wrong would not be fun /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

No problem while hanging stands, but I've got a yard full of those HUGE red and yellow suckers. I think they are called Cicada Killers.

I have a bunch of them as well but the interesting thing is they don't sting you! The males can't and the females only if you grab them and then very rarely. Scare the He*L out of you though when they dive bomb you though /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

I heard they don't sting, but it still makes me nervous when the kids are out playing around them. Plus they make a hell of a mess in the yard. It's amazing how much dirt a little wasp can dig up.

i almost stepped on a nest while carrying a stand and sticks to the woods this summer, but i saw it right before i stepped on it, that would have been ugly!

My wife's uncle was doing yard work last week and got stung 7 times and luckly made it back to the house cuz he passed out and had to go to the ER. Gave him a couple of shots and he is doing fine now but had he got hit a couple more times and the Dr. said he probably would of died. I hate those things.

I've been painting my house over the last month, and have run into wasps in just about every possible roof ridge. I think they really truly suck after it gets cold out and they are doped-up slow wandering on your carpets. Then they just climb your pants or socks and whack you! If it happens to you, try the crushed up asprin-paste over the sting. It does help.

Those Cicada Killers are huge but pretty harmless (Bugs). They don't much mind people.
