Water tank question?

Is 50 gallon rubber tank to small for a water hole dug into side of hill to self fill?

I would do no less than 100 gal. Otherwise, evaporates very quickly.

Dig the hole deeper than you think you need it lol every time I do one I end up being too shallow and the runoff water won’t run in.

250+. If find clay (who can’t in iowa?!?) - 60 mins in skid steer…. 2,000 gallons I bet

I have access to a 50 gallon tank is why I’m asking but if it’s not worth it I’m not gonna dig the hole to put it in. Thanks

I used a tractor tire once, if you use a sharp box blade you can cut the sidewall out of one side. Lay the tire in the hole and fill the bottom with concrete. Narrow rear tire probably 18” x 5-6’ diameter I think that came down to a 240-250 gallon tank and the deer seemed to love it.

Found a pic, it didn’t take much concrete I just made sure the concrete went higher than the bead and overlapped a little. Also put wire mesh in the concrete.

Just dug in a 300 gallon tank this morning with my tractor, well worth it in my opinion, if you can go that big.
