Does anybody have to know how to add anymore? Just came back from the gas station. I owed 13.11 and gave the guy a twenty. He must have punched in 13.11 and sat there for 20 seconds trying to figure it out and then said how much do I owe you. I almost laughed out loud.

those days are long gone. It's hard enough to get a "thank you" let alone counting out your change. I have an increased heart rate every time I leave a place like that.
 
I love to go in and give those kind of people say a twenty then pull out the exact change (coins) after and really screw them up.

Your right very few younger kids can add at all. If we got caught a with so much as a slide rule in math class we got detention. Yea there weren't calculators back then.

Seriously...as a Math teacher, the methods today are flawed. Hands on...manipulatives...calculators. I'm old school....memorize your facts or else. It's funny how the kids in my class always have higher math scores than the ones in the other grade 4 classes in town...that's the truth. I say bring back the strap too.

So you are the one that keeps us all waiting in line? Wy wife makes it even worse. Lets say the bill is 15.33 she'll givem a 20 and three cents. 7 outa ten times she ends up telling them what to give her. She has become impervious to my mean look cause she still does it.

I pay at the pump. That way I don't have to wait in line behind G6, or my wife.

That was my point above nobody uses their mind just a key pad, it was considered cheating when I went to school to use any kind of calculating tool.
