WOW!!!

The Residents hunters of Iowa better pony up and fight for your resources. I live in SC the worse state for whitetail management in the Union. Lobbyists were able to get this bill pass because a 5 buck limit was passed and mention of having to use a deer tag in the future. It’s too late for us to ever have sound wildlife management. Our resources will for ever be pimped out to lobbyist, but you guys have still have hope. FIGHT.

The following bill passed without ever going to a House or Senate Committee.

Fletchman, I know that you want to argue with somebody, but lets get down and look at the hard facts. You want to come to Iowa to shoot one of those booners that you think that are behind every tree. But I'm sorry, your not the only one. So really, really think about this. If the quota was lifted off for non-residents to hunt, do you really think that Iowa will keep the reputation that it does for having some of the best deer hunting in the midwest? Non-residents would love it for a year or two, but it would be another Illinios, if you don't have a lease for yourself, you will have to pay an outfitter to hunt.

It's hunters like you who make the word [non-resident]a real sore subject. Eventually the anti hunters and people like you will put an end to Great hunting states like Iowa.
Stay home or start showing some respect, starting right here on this forum.

Is there sarcasm in this quote or are you serious? not funny AT ALL!!

FAct is there are a lot of people that feel that way... they want to swarm Iowa and shoot every big buck available. And they will at the first opportunity. As a former resident who now has to wait 2-3 years between hunts, I can see both sides of it.

But I can tell you this one thing for certain: THis bill would kill the goose that laid the golden egg.

I say both residents and nonresidents should fight this and keep the goose laying golden eggs for a long time to come.

If this passes I think I will need to raise the price on my place south of Washington. How they allocate the tags would make a big difference but still it would be the beginning of the end. Write your reps now.

...They don't seem to want to shoot many does either, that is where the problem lies in some areas.

I've sent about 15 emails to the Natural Resource Committee members and I've recieved 3 replies..keep at it though.

Swaims response to me.

Todd,
The bill is running into considerably difficultly anyway. I am beginning to doubt that it will go anywhere. Best regards, Kurt

Yes, anyone who passionately cares about the future of Iowa deer hunting should write your legislaturs. But, what about letting Farm Beauru know how you feel. How many of you are Farm Beauru Mbrs? Who do you have Ins. with? How do they stand on they stand on the issue of deer population control?

I just think we all could be doing more than just letting our legislaturor know how we feel. Let your insurance companies also know how you feel also!

I'm afraid the deer numbers will be reduced to the 70's level. Any out of state hunter isn't here to shoot does even if they are packing a doe tag.Just not sure where the insurance co. will push this.

Funny you mentioned that. I recently sent a letter to my FB insurance rep. It is now being sent up the FB Federation flag pole to see who will salute it! /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

Luckily I can guarantee about 2000 acres I know you will NEVER step your foot on.

I understand some people want to really hunt deer in this state, but to present yourself the way you did when you made your first post and to add this comment to this post...pretty much lets me know my poker game had you pegged from the get go.

And people wonder why there is some negative feelings on NR tags in Iowa from the residents? It's people like you...or the scums that come here with antlerless tags for one county and poach a buck in another county. Nothing makes me more happy than to know when they get caught.

ALSO, it's people like you that ruin people's confidence in making posts on this site. Luckily there's a PMA section, but even that has been spammed lately. A handful of guys on here have been burnt by out of staters, that use this website as their yearly scouting adventure to conduct research of who's posting what and where, then go and poach deer on that land.

As for this bill, I sure hope calls and emails do the trick, but I wouldn't be surprised to see some jacka$$ slip it in as an earmark of another bill...especially if the "special interests" people pay that person off.

This is a VERY VERY BAD plan for IOWA...

Cmon guys cant you take a joke?

Hey I would love to hunt Iowa EVERY year, I like killin big deer.

But your laws subject me to only killing your deer once every three years.

So I go to Illinois every year and kill big deer, gotta do what ya gotta do:)

I have friends (WITH very good hunting LAND) in Iowa that would like me to hunt with them yearly, but Im not the type to buy a doe tag and come down and kill a buck and have a local tag it, (Happens all the time).

So Im not the hunter you should be worried about.

Your State is messed up on givin doe tags to NR's and still allowing "Party hunting"

Does this make any sense?

I wonder how excited your friends would be about you coming down to hunt their land when an outfitter was offering them $60.00+ per acre to lease their ground or a NR was offering them $5000+ per acre to buy their "very good hunting land"?

I have heard of family members that were kicked off the family farms for a lot less money let alone a friend that lives in a different State. So I'd be careful what you wish/hope for.

On your second point I couldn't agree more!

Now check this fellow out, he promotes buying a doe tag and having a non hunter basicly hunt with him carrying a buck tag. I called this fellow out of New York who calls himself a outfitters representative. This guy is bad for the sport, and looking for only his benefit $$$.
Call him for yourself.
