UPDATE - the weasel has left the building. Not on his own though -
Friday night I opened the garage door really quick and he jumped out of the garbage can and sat on the rim for a second or two. He then jumped down onto the foundation ledge in the garage behind the garbage can lid.....where he then was greeted by a size 12 Wolverine boot.
I would have taken pics of the harvest, but the instant PETA member of my family was not happy the weasel had to go that way.
(She then went with me to sell my trapping furs, so the PETA moment was only short lived)
I haven't seen any more signs of more weasels since then - and yes, that little bastard STUNK!
I think Boone and Crockett is looking into footwear as a valid method of harvest. The way I see it, if you can get close enough to use a boot, that's Fair Chase!

Those are cool. Keep the mice down and cause no problem. Let it go or box trap it and I will come get it and let it live in my garage.

I'm confused as to why a few folks just wanted me to let it live in my garage - it S**T and pissed all over everything in there in a matter of 2 days! Why would I want that? That thing stunk like hell when I carried it out of the garage...why would I want some stinky little creature living in my garage? If I get another one I'll try and introduce him to my boot too.
They are just cool. Rare in IA. Probably the same reason that Canadians think we are crazy to hunt bear. We love to hunt them cause they aren't in IA. A canadian wouldn't walk across his yd to shoot one. Same reason we go to MN fishing, cause fishing sucks in IA and same reason my best buddy in MN is drooling for an IA bow deer tag; cause trophy whitetails are rare in MN. We all like what we don't have around us.
