i am going to be shotgunning for turkeys this weekend down in southeast iowa and i was looking at the weather conditions and it said Saturday: partly sunny. High in the mid 70s. South wind 10 to 20 mph with gusts to around 30 mph. with those gusts should i be setting up at the bottom of a big ridge? any advice would help. thanks

Since i know were your hunting!

I would sit down in the bottom corn field out of the wind.

Man I hate high winds while turkey hunting! Only thing you can do is hunt!

I will be hunting SE Iowa also this weekend. I would say set up on a strut zone in the timber that is protected from the wind.

plan on sitting in areas where the turkeys are known to be, they dont mind the wind too much. plan on sitting for a while
good luck

I sat out tonite on a grass field on the edge of a corn field with high winds and the turkeys didnt seem to bother much! Dont be stupid like me and forget to put ur decoy out where they can see it!

I had 5 toms out in a field in southeast iowa also... they dont seem to mind the wind and neither do the hens! Awesome nite, roosted about 24 birds and goin out tomorrow morning!!
