I was planing on driving to Iowa tommarow morning (from Ohio) but Ive heard you guys are under a blizzard warning, if you guys could please keep me posted on the weather and driving conditions through out the night ide appreciate it.......Ive never driven in snow like you guys get, we got nothin here in Ohio, im affraid ide hit some nasty stuff Illinois and beyond

You'll be fine driving in snow, its the ice you gotta watch out for. I headed home from the illinois classic last weekend on monday and there were about 15-20 cars in the ditch from the border to Knoxville. I think it is suppose to just start raining tmrw and than turn into snow later in the night. Might be better off leavin tonite.

Blizzard warning has been issued for Des Moines from 6am tomorrow until 6 pm Friday night. From the way they are talking you probably won't have much trouble with snow until you get very close to DSM. East of town is supposed to get much smaller amounts of snow.

The weathermen are scared poopless, as is most of the state after this last ice storm. There's NO WAY that they'll get it right two storms in a row, they're weather men for crying out loud.

But... don't quote me on that.

what are they thinking for south central iowa, is there much snow on the ground now?

I just talked to Chris Begerson the owner he thinks it might be due to the weather since he is having ice where he lives. We will try to get it fixed.

The weather isn't looking too promising. We are supposed to have some crazy winds on Friday of up to 50mph, so the snow will be drifting all over the roads. With ice under that, and some extra snow on top, driving conditions don't look good at all. Who knows I guess, we'll see as the time gets closer.

Snow isnt usually much of a problem because its fairly easy to plow off and people can see it so they slow down. The ice will get you though. The road starts out wet and becomes ice but its hard to see the change until its too late. Drifting snow gets ground into ice by semi's and the wind wont allow the ice melt to stay on the road and do its job. Whatever you do, turn off the cruise control as soon as the road becomes wet. If you hit ice with the cruise on, your screwed. If you do go into the ditch, dont plan on getting towed out until the storm ends.

Buckle up and good luck!

Well it is 9:30 am and it is snowin like a mother. Not supposed to stop either, what the radio said. This snow sucks, really tired of it.

Here in Ames, 30 minutes north of Des Moines, it's pouring down rain! Wow, it's gonna really suck if this stuff freezes!
