What a perfect Morning!

Headed down to SW Iowa to help my bro-in-law's parents do some drywall and tile and thought we could fit a morning turkey hunt in. My bro and I headed out early to get setup up on some ground that has always produced some nice birds. The morning didn't start out too well when I was setting up the DB (a bit rusty, my first time out this year) I got part of my hand pinched in one of the hubs and tore a big piece of skin off and was bleeding like a stuck pig. Didn't take long for me to forget about that! Birds started sounding off all around us. Had 7 or 8 different toms really fired up. As soon as they hit the ground we gave a couple of soft yelps and this guy sounded right off and we saw him about 100 yards away. A couple of soft purrs and he saw the decoy set up and ran right to us only pausing once to kind of fan out but saw the Pretty Boy and couldn't resist. Next thing he knows he is getting pelted with some #5s! My first turkey hunt of the year and it was over at 6:20! We had another bird working his way in but wouldn't ever come up out of a ditch so we couldn't get my bro his bird but there is still season left. He's my best bird to date, right at 27lbs, 1 5/8" spurs, and a 10 1/2" beard. This was a very special weekend for me because I am going through a VERY tough time in my life and to get away for a weekend to help some family out and to be able to have a perfect hunt and share it with them is priceless. A huge thanks goes out to my bro-in-law and his dad for giving me the opportunity. I would gladly do some drywall and a tile floor for that result any day. I also want to thank Willie, Muddy, and Doublerack. The support you have given me the last few weeks has been awesome. You might not think you have done very much but you all have. I used to think there wasn't a genuine person out there, thanks for proving me wrong. Here are some picks of me and my bro Nate and me and his dad David. Congrats to everyone that has had a successful season whether you have harvested a bird or not and good luck to those still hunting!
