What are you snorting at?

Hey guys, was out hunting over the weekend and heard a deer snorting upwind of me and out of sight, probably a good 200 yards away. I know it's hard to tell what it would have been snorting at, but just wondering what all they would snort at. Obviously anything they think is a threat or are unsure of. Just got me to wondering. Private ground, so don't think it was a human.

I've seen does snort at bucks chasing them before. They snort at a lot of different things, but usually it's a sign of danger near to the other deer.

I've seen doe snort like crazy at bucks approaching early season more than once. One time there was 4 doe together that just came out to a field, all the sudden the big doe started snorting and leaping up in the air for a minute or so. Couldn't figure it out until I saw the buck approaching them upwind from the other side of the field.

All posts are right they will snort at many things. When I get busted I keep on hunting cause more deer will show up.

Crazy how after I read this two nights later I had a doe snorting at the bucks chasing her. First time I've seen that.

If you were upwind and they were snorting at you, they may of caught you moving from them being behind cover. That's if something else didn't startled them.

I've been meaning to buy a snort call to use when deer blow at me during low light condition when I'm upwind and I'm walking to my stand. Kind of makes them think it's just another deer and they may stick around and calm down. I've heard from others that it's very effective tool to use in the Deer woods.
