What kind of deodorant do you use when you hunt? (sorry if this is an old post). At the dinner table one time, a friend of mine who is a serious hunter asked me that in front of everyone. I replyed "I don't know, right guard?" He said "That won't work they'll smell that! Use Sure Unscented. Under each arm pit, on the backs of your knees, and don't forget to give yourself a shot on the behind because you smell there too." Remember this is at the dinner table. So, I use Sure Unscented Gel, but on just the first two, not the third. OZ

You know I have for years used HS scent away stick deoderant. Last friday I bought Mennens scent free for the price of regular deoderant. This too will not see number three.

Thats just nasty!
It sparks all kinds of icky thoughts.
Perhaps two sticks would be in order. Well labeled of course!
Hemroids anyone?

man, i'm glad to find some alternatives, that H.S. stuff is hard on the pits, and causes clumps of deoderant in the pits. not sure what it is like in the "tailpipe" area

Arm and Hammer unscented. The baking soda seems to make sense. I do the pits, but will pass on the other two. Just take care of business BEFORE you shower up with HS No-scent soap.

Threebeards

A shower before EVERY hunt w/ H.S. Scent-A-Way soap & shampoo takes care of most of the human odor (including the "scent vent") followed by an application of SURE unscented anti-perspirant under the arms AND on the feet.

Less perspiration=dryer socks & feet which means WARMER feet! One of the best "secrets" I know and am willing to share!!

BTW, a deodorant supposedly kills the odor from bacteria...an anti-perspirant prevents the bacteria from forming and causing the odor in the first place.

Seems like a "no-brainer" for the hunter who starts out with a clean, scent-free body to begin with.

Have Fun, Hunt Safe, and NEVER FORGET THE WIND and Just Hunt!

Shower with Natural Wash by Natures Essence, it has so much chlorophyll it’s a very dark green (no it doesn’t turn you green.) For deodorant I use what I use all year long – Kiss My Face liquid crystal roll on, but switch from patchouli to unscented for hunting season. You can find it at your friendly local health food store. Underarms only…

As an aside, when I talk about hunting with people who’ve never hunted, why do they all think that we don’t shower for many days prior to a hunt to build up a funky ‘natural’ scent?? (Wouldn’t work for me, I always smell like a meadow…)

They’re always surprised to find out that no, there are products that take away all your scent because you don’t want to smell like a human being. What’s up with that? Did hunters do that in the old days?

Kat..in the old days, everybody was stanky. In some parts of Missouri and Arkansas, people are still stanky. (not a typo...stinky plus skanky = stanky)

I use the rightgard unscented, HS body was, head shaven (bonker shaves everything) and this year, the Ghost SES

HS products all the way, soap, shampoo, deodarant, powder...shower before every hunt....

Aren't deer attracted to patchouli =()

As for #3....PASS....wouldn't wanna mess with my grunt call.

I use the Scent Killer brand deoderants and soaps, but only applied where their meant for. [ QUOTE ]
Perhaps two sticks would be in order.

[/ QUOTE ] I got an idea Scout,Use your own for the armpits, and use the wifes unscented deoderant in the other regions,I'm sure she wont notice.

I use old spice

about a month before the season, I buy about 30 sticks of it, plant them all over the woods all around me, so the whole woods reaks like old spice. The deer eventually get used to the smell, kind of like the deer that get used to living around a pig farm. I go in hunt, put on old spice, after a shower. The smell overwhelms the human scent that is left, and since the whole woods smells like old spice, the deer just think im one of those wierd funky smelling sticks.

The Indians used to wring out all of their human impurities and odor, in you guessed it, sweat tents... they would also fast for a few days prior to the hunt...

I'm thinking of trying some of those chlorophyll pills. Have heard that they reduce body odor substantially. Of course will use the HS soaps/deodorants as well

And if you do.....

How'd you get your nose between their WINGS???
