Tuesday afternoon, (Oct 21) I planned on hunting in the afternoon so I took off from work early.
Light winds, sunny and 50*. I got to my cabin about 2:30 and when I pulled in, I seen a few deer running from a small clover plot in the back yard.
Bout 3: 30, I was getting ready to shower up, looked out the back window and 2 fawns were feeding on clover/ acorns 15 yards away. I was enjoying watching them when thier mother cam to join them.

Within 5 minutes, 5 more does n fawns and 2 small bucks appeared.
They were all really calm and not jittery at all.
The first doe and 2 fawns layed down in the clover 15 yards away. In 16 years, I've never seen deer do that. They all finally slowly boogered off when the heard the shower pump kick in.
Next morning, a buddy called (100 miles away) and explained that his 3 cell cams absolutely blew up with pics same time of day.
That evening, another buddy (30 miles away) called and said he had 7 does n fawns come into his back yard and bedded down same time frame.
He commented on how calm the deer were also.

Sitting in a treestand, I seen 1 deer that evening, my buddy with the 3 cell cams said few deer were moving after 5p.m. and my buddy that had the 7 bedded said after they left, he did not see a deer the last 2 hours of daylight.

We all had the same conditions, 50*, light winds and clear blue skies. 2:30_ 4:30 the deer were super active but really acting calmly.

Anyone have a take on why this happened and have you seen similar.
If anyone follows the moon phase/ lunar / barometric stuff this happened near zip code 56560.

Trying bed in places where bucks won’t harass them as much? Next to a house would be a good spot. It doesn’t match your question, but I have seen several instances where mature bucks regularly bed near a highway or buildings. I think they do this because it a low pressure area and less predators.

No idea. I have noticed on occasions that deer are all over the cameras at the same time (odd times) !

Not sure. I've noticed too sometimes deer are active and up & moving when you wouldn't expect it and it spots that you wouldn't expect. Not sure you can find a link to it. Just deer doing deer things.

I have experienced the same. I assume they are so tuned in to weather, pressure, or whatever, that they take it easy some days and feed/move more on other days. I am guessing several of us took ag classes in school and if we think back we were taught that rumens need to "relax" to digest their food efficiently. One thing I learned, anytime I had a family group or lone buck bed down I might as well take a nap as well because they were all doing the same thing at the same time.

My wife called me at 2pm today on her way to town and told me there were deer out everywhere.. I noticed there was a slight break in the rain. Crazy how they can react to the slight changes in weather we barely notice.
