I hunt on a property thats small, but connects to two big timbers. But the problem is all the bucksI see are big bodied, with small racks. Some are exstreamly small! But the deer weigh around, 150-220lbs. I've noticed this for a few years now. I was wondering if they are lacking some kind of nutrient? There main source of food is, corn and clovers. Is there anything I can do to help? Thanks
Good Luck

we had the same sitution on some ground. Fair racks but not what one would consider trophey. Huge bodies! Tons of great meat on them.

we started taking some of them, a DNR rep told me it could be due to the genetics of the locals.

After a couple of years we did start to see a few nicer racks. Took a very nice ten two years ago during shotgun. He was with 19 does at the time. That was the year it was 70 degrees during the first shotgun season in Dec.

Last year couldn't get close to the two big ones in the area, saw them that's it. they are still around. though.

to anwser your question though, it could be genetics. take one, eat the hell out it and use the rack to rattle next year.
