where was the biggest whitetail deer shot in Iowa

I would have guessed in the Lungs..

Man, 2000 and 2008 must have been some outstanding years for deer hunting in Iowa. My 2008 kinda sucked, but lots of entries for those years out there.

Also, I would say there are a lot of deer that are harvested that never show up on that list or are not widely known about.
 
All of my deer in there are showing net scores. It is showing Typ. shotgun
top deer at 225 1/8" thats about 12" bigger then the world record. ????
 
Are the deer on that list only certain bucks that were entered or something like that?

Obviously the Lakoskys (and others) have killed alot of big deer that do not show up on that list, so Im just wondering why certain deer show up on there and certain ones dont...
 
You can have your deer scored and not enter it in the DNR record book. It is up to you. I believe the scorer takes care of that for you. They only update their book a few times a year.
 
I have harvested over a dozen deer that range from 140 to the mid 190's and not a single one is in any book. I know a whole lot of people who don't register anything and they have some giants.

Many do not register their trophies, in fact, I could probably think of easily 50 bucks that I know that aren't in there from friends, acquaintances and myself. If I were to guess, I'd say only about 20% of the bucks get registered.

Its been that way for a long time.Im guessing its a typo.
But i suppose if you only had it officially scored by the iowa trophy records and not boone and crockett then it would never be an official world record.
 
I questioned the DNR way back in my younger years on that typo in the typical..They said its what the Iowa Dnr scored it as, so I assume maybe it was never scored by B&C?
 
I don't know if it was the biggest but a 238 shot on October 17th in sw Iowa will be in NA whitetail magazine in February I believe.
 
2008 was the last 'good' year of deer hunting I had for bucks. I've done well on does since then but my buck sightings have gone done. Part of that is due to a move so I'm hunting different ground (public).

I personally have not entered any bucks in the trophy books. I bet the figure is close to 20% (or less) as Nick mentioned.
