Where's the boots???

Hey Everyone,

I have a question for you pertaining to boots. After I get done hunting, I put my clothes back into my scentless bag, but I put my boots in a separate container. Some guys put it in the bag as well, but I don't like that idea because the odor from the inside of the boot could contaminate the clothes. Any thoughts, ideas, opinions, etc.???
 
I hang mine outside behind the garage upside down with boot hanger's and leave'em until I go back out.I also put on a pair of mock's for the ride there and home.I think your footwear are one of the most important thing's to keep scent free and I do everything I can to make them stay that way.
 
I put my rubber boots in a big garbage bag and throw in a fresh earth scent wafer with them. My leather/nylon lace-up boots I let air dry out in the garage, then put them in the bag with the rubber boots. The clothes go in a Rubbermaid container with another wafer.

I usually drive to my hunting spot in tennis shoes, then switch sox when I get dressed. Then EVERYTHING gets a shot of scent killer before I hit the trail.
 
Like evryone so far I putmy rubber boots in a bag by themselves with a scent waffer. I also strip down when I get to my hunting spot and change everything. Maybe a little overboard but it is a routine to me now. Makes getting ready in a public area a little more challenging and late november is a little cold.

I also store my boots separately from my clothes in a separate bag, but unlike some, I wear my hunting clothes and boots on the drive. Instead of changing when I get there

I spray the seat of my truck down with the Ghost about 5 minutes before I leave everywhere my clothes are going to touch it – the back, the seat and the front where the back of my knees would touch. I also spray the gas/brake/clutch pedals and floor board and of course spray the bottom of my boots when I get there. I like to be able to jump out of my truck, grab my gear and go when I get there. The stuff works great!

I do about half of that stuff Kat. I don't have enough patience to do all that.

I store my boots in a bag too, but I also douse them with HS Scent-a-way powder, that stuff is incredible.

I've actually shared that with some non-hunting friends who had issues with their sneakers....it's better than any foot powders they sell for stinky shoes.

Same technique used here, although I use Essence of Fall spray in my truck, and do it for a more "dignified" reason!

It's alot more populated in the areas I hunt here in SE New York than out there in the Iowa farm country, and it simply doesn't do the bowhunter's image much good being caught in the headlights along the road in nothin' but his boxer/briefs while changing into his hunting garb.....even if he does have decent-looking legs!!

I cant afford scent wafers so i just throw dirt and leaves in my bages does any one else to this, the long johns get a little itchy though. i figure it works all the same.
 
Boots are currently upside down on a couple of stakes in the garden. (knocking off the new small)
They will be kept in a rubber recycle container during season with earthy debris about 2" deep on the bottom of the tub.
I use a couple big plastic storage boxes (the truckbox type with a hinged lid) for the goodies I take along. It seems to be the only way I can be sure I'll have exactly what I want when I arrive. The bed has a hard tanneu (sp)cover that is the ticket!
