I am havin trouble selecting a broadhead to use. Last year i used the rage two blade but after i hit a buck i little far forward and not finding him i think i want to stay away from machanicals.

Im shooting a mathews drenalin at 60 lb with a 27 inch draw. I use carbon express maxima hunter 250 arrows.

Does anyone have any suggestions about what broadhead i should use and if i should use 100 or 125 grain.

( i tried the three blade 100 grain muzzys and couldnt seem to group well with them )

thanks for any suggestions!

Not sure why you couldn't get the Muzzy's to fly, I've had great luck with them, perhaps your bow is out of tune?? I guess I've never shot anything else for a fixed head besides Muzzy's, but if I were to try anything I'd try the Montec's. I've heard nothing but good things about them.

I shoot the montec's and they have worked great for me. They always leave a good blood trail, but they seem to shoot a little high just a little adjustment.

I've shot Slick Trick stadards and mags the past 3 seasons, don't picture myself ever switching. I'd highly reccomend trying them, we've got a bunch of extra we use for practice I'd be willing to lend ya to try out.

I'm with Muddy. Muzzy's have always grouped well for me with a well tuned bow. In fact, when in tune, they match my field tips perfectly. I would stay with a fixed blade for the same reasons you described. I know they're a multitude of guys that love the Rage and others but for me it will be fixed blade ONLY on big game. :way:

muzzy mx-3 for me . like muddy said ,if your bow is tuned they should shot the same as field points. you may want to paper tune your bow.

I shoot 10 or more does each year and hopefully a buck as well. I have harvested more than 30 deer in the past several years with the Wasp Jackhammer 100 gr 3-blades (1 3/4" cut). I have yet to have one fail, they are reasonably priced and the best feature is that the replacement blades are a breeze to install. I can clean a broadhead, replace the blades, and have it back in my quiver in less than 10 minutes. I have tried several other heads and I can't say the same about many of them. Also, they fly great for me.

Wasp Jackhammers!:way:

Another vote for Muzzy 100's. Razorcaps are better in my book but my shop quit carrying them. They zipped through bone like butter.

I shoot a G5 fixed blade product also but the Striker rather than the Montec. I prefer the replacement blades of the Striker rather than having to resharpen the Montecs. Striker blades are VERY sharp and fly great.

Slick Trick all the way. I've tried an insane amount of broadheads and until somebody comes up with something that works better for me, I'm sticking with the ST's.

I have paper shot my bow and its fine, I can break arrows at 30 yards regularly with field pionts so i dont think my bows the problem. with my set up im pretty sure i should be using 100 grain heads, am i correct? I'll go out tomorrow and give it another try. I dont think i'd get so many good responses if they werent a good broadhead.

another vote for Muzzys here.

believe it or not, even new bows need tuned. If your bow is tuned, Muzzys will fly true! keep practicing and it will all come together!

I have tried all kinds of heads. I like the spintite products. They have mechincal and fixed blade heads. Super strong heads and they fly like field points. I shot 3 doe in one year with the same head. Just washed it and went hunting. They were just as sharp as they were out of the box. I would suggest them to anyone. Just my 2 cents worth.

Wasp Jackhammers!

Agreed! I tried the G5 Tekan II last year with great success as well. :way: A missed shot is a missed shot. I doubt the broad head failed most likely a undesirable shot placement. It happens to all of us sooner or later. :way:

X2 on the slick tricks, if you are only going to be shooting fixed blades.
