For those that disc, what kind of harrow works best to level the dirt out? We have a cultipacker but no harrow. Was planning on making one with old tires or chain link fence gate. Plan to lightly disc up brassicas this spring and plant buckwheat In about 1/3 acre plot.
A tandem disc can keep the ground level, if setup correctly. A center sweep kit really keeps ridging to a minimum. As does making sure the front is buried slightly deeper so the rear outer discs don't create a heavy furrow.
But a chain harrow with some weight would definitely smooth out if you don't have access to a pulverizer/cultipacker. Personally, I just disc and then cultipack.
Long term, would be nice to get a larger disc with rolling baskets on the back
Hope that helps.
