Looks like you guys down in South East Iowa are going to get a substantial amount of snow. I wish I was with you guys today!!

Ground is white in Monona county. I got a blind calling me at about 4:00. I been bird hunting last 3 days with son in law and Grandson which was geat. But i sure lost track of rut in my area.
I did a drive around last nite and seen 3 bucks chasing does 200 yards from this blind so the snow is a real bonus.

Buddies from WI will be happy to hear that. They're heading to NE to hunt across the river from there.

No snow a little north of you, I'm just NE of Sioux City and haven't seen a flake yet. I gave the birds heck last weekend and need to try to find a nice buck this weekend before shotgun season. Just haven't seen a shooter yet. It is just too cold for me after the gun seasons usually to bow hunt, so it's "bag my buck this weekend or bust" on my any-sex archery tag. Maybe I also suffer from a little burn-out after 3 weekends of youth, 2 months of being perched in a tree-stand, 5 days of exhausting shotgun hunting, and not to mention the family neglect. Goodluck out there everyone and don't forget your family, they likey don't enjoy it nearly as much as we do.

Woke up this morning with snow on the ground. /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/laugh.gif To bad i had to go to school this morning or else id be in the stand. Its not going to stay on the ground long but its nice that we actually had some

I will be out tomorrow am! That is if we get to my hunting area tonight. /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/confused.gif

Yea i just got back from up there. Checking my other hunting area
I was bird hunting up there this weekend too. Seen plenty of birds just well you know the rest story. Seen 6-7 nice shooters out cruising while we bird hunted area. We were 3-4 miles north of Hill Top Motel on 20. I think maybe we bumped into each other last year early one morning going to our stands?

Wish I was! Just sitting here at work looking at IW all day. Can't get out till friday morning.Still should be a little snow on the ground still.

It seems as if the deer gods have shown their "snow" down on me here in SE Iowa. Hoping for my first Thanksgiving kill, and hopefully it'll be a monster...

I LOVE SNOW AND COLD WEATHER YEE HAW! /forum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

I was in the stand in the thick of the snow falling and didn't see anything. I think they bedded down when it was snowing hard. Today is going to be a great day if you can get away from the dinner table. I will definitely be out the next three days.

Good Luck and Happy Turkey Day!

I went out last night in the Indianola area and it was blizzard like conditions but it was awesome being in the stand. I'm trying to fill a 2nd doe tag and had a 2 year old 6 point bed down a hundred yards in front of me with a doe early on during my afternoon hunt. It was cool watching the snow cover the bedded deer. Finally towards the end of the afternoon they stood up and shook off and headed out. No success on this hunt but it was a great site seeing deer during a snow storm.

Went out this morning didn't see a deer.Only could hunt a couple hour had to get home and cook. Was heading to my hunting spot about 35 miles south of DBQ. but the roads where to bad the county roads where solid ice. I didn't want to start the 4 day weekend whit a wrecked truck so I turned around and hunted a spot next to town.

spent the last two days of my bow season in it :(. passed a lot of deer. just didnt have my shooter in range. stuck to my guns though.

Just north of Moville flatlander? Still no snow in my area, but man, it got cold last night as the sun set!! I heard the weatherman say to expect brutal cold temps for the beginning of December...sounds like a replay of 2 years ago, less a foot of snow, but there is still time for the snow! It's a lot easier staying warm walking through sections of cover with a shotgun than being perched in a tree.

Small world. I sold some sheep between Kingsley and Moville last week. Saw a big buck along the hwy. chasing a doe.
Scott R. , have you ever taken a deer to Holstein to be processed? I took one there and heard they were real good.

Been to that sale barn alot. My Grampa was a livestock scalper!
The locker in Holstein is real good. Taken several deer over there, allways happy.
Where was you hunting to end up in Holstein?

Took the deer to the sale barn with me because my friend said it was kind of close by...kind of... being the key words. Anyway,it was shot by Turin.
