Wife's First Deer

My wife was able to take her first deer on Saturday morning with a rifle here in Nebraska.

My friends and I had been seeing this all through bow season as he was a regular all over the property, he was very distinguishable with the white patches on his face. We named him Snowflake. He wasn't big enough to be on our hit list, but I was really hoping that he would make it to rifle season so my wife would have a shot.

Come Saturday morning we were running late but got to our spot at just about shooting light. About 45 minutes in a catch a glimpse of a deer on opposite side of the timber we were sitting in so I let out a few grunts. The deer starts working our way and I can tell its a buck but I couldn't ever get a good luck as his face. He begins to parallel us on the hill side so I mouth grunt to stop him for shot. At this point he turns his head and I can see its Snowflake. Over course his vitals were right behind a tree so there was no shot. He starts to trot up the hill and I let out another mouth grunt and he stops in an opening this time. One good placed shot and he was down. He ran about 50 yards before piling up. I'll never forget the look on my wife's face as she walked up to him, it was priceless.

Hope you enjoy the pics.
