A buddy and I braved the winds Monday morning and had a great morning. We heard the first gobble at 5:46 and it continued until they hit the ground and then the rattled off just a few times. I had scouted this spot and knew that these turkeys were using this alfalfa field after fly down so I felt pretty confident in the setup.
There have been 4 toms in there and they were all together that morning. Number 4 of the pecking order got chased around and ended up strutting into the decoys at 8 steps. He walked right past my strutter and beat on my DSD jake. I came to full draw when he went behind the strutters fan and then had to hold for a bit until he got off my decoy. He got throat punched and with that 2 other toms and a hen raced in and the stutter took a load of shot to the head and we were done!

The stats:
My bird: 21.5 pounds, 10.5” beard and 1” spurs
His bird: 23 pounds, 11.25” beard and 1-1/8” spurs.
100 grain bullhead to the throat
