I've had many Redwings, and they hold up really well. However, they are by far and away the most uncomfortable boots I've had. Especially if you spend a lot of time on cement, standing, working, etc... I went to wolverine boots with the soft soles, and they were very comfortable, but the sole fell apart very quickly. Then I went to Danners, and they were really lightweight and comfortable as well, but the tread sure didn't seem to last very long.
Most recent pair are the new Keen work boots. They are steel toe, and very waterproof. I work in a canned petfood factory, and let me tell you, it's wet! My feet stay dry due to the goretex lining or whatever they put in there, and they are very light. Feel like tennis shoes, and I find myself wanting to wear them wherever I go because they are so comfortable. In the last month, I know of at least 5 people that have switched to them and really like them. The tread seems to be holding up pretty well too.
