Wyoming DIY Antelope

Got back from first WY hunt what a blast. Wont be my last. Drew tags in a unit that only took one point to apply. After the first night of scouting I was pretty worried about how many other hunters I saw. It was worse than opener of shotgun season one for sure. I think I saw 15 different states license plates, wall tents, campers and the works on public. Half these clowns were driving on the 2 tracks pushing all the antelope off the public (their version of scouting and later to be hunting)

Early in the morning we staked out some walk in public hunting ground and missed a niceeeee buck after jumping him to 400 yards. Using our trusty OnyX we went 2 miles down the road and took off walking. After about a mile of walking in , we spotted about 10 lopes another mile in, in our stalk on those , we spotted this one about 1/4 mile away. Got to about 400 and belly crawled to 330 and I let the 7rem mag bark. Dead on the spot.

My accomplice also filled his tag the same day at 250 yards, these dang things can see like crazy. We were done by 4 P.M. opening day. Still picking cactus out of my legs arms and ass - totally worth it.

Probably should of mounted him, didnt save the cape cause the 140 grain ballistic tip left an apple size exit hole on the backside of him . Ill be back for a bigger one eventually I hope ! Even at 300 yards there still tough to judge at 16x zoom!

Congrats on the speedgoat. We saw a lot of them on the drive through Wy heading north of Sheridan last month.
