I'd say 80% of the farmers I've talked to or seen have started taking crops out. Some of the larger corps have been hitting it for two weeks here in sw iowa. Seems early to me, Witch is great!!

I LIVE IN WEST CENTRAL ILLINOIS AND THE FARMERS AROUND HERE ARE DONE WITH CORN AND PROBABLY 50% DONE WITH THE BEANS.THE FARM I HUNT ON IS DONE WITH BOTH.I WENT IN TODAY AND SCRATCHED OUT A COUPLE OF SPOTS IN THE BEAN STUBBLE TODAY AND BROADCAST SOME GREEN PATCH PLUS.NOW I'M PRAYING FOR RAIN.WE'VE BEEN IN A DROUGHT AROUND HERE.I HAVE'NT MOWED MY YARD FOR 2 MONTHS.SURE IS NICE TO SEE THE CROPS OUT.

As a side note: storage might be an issue around here. Crops might have to stand in the field because the elevators could be full. I hope not, though. I read in Wallace Farmer this weekend that the ethanol plants want the farmers/elevators to store the grain until they need it. This differs from the "traditional" marketing of grain which used the barge and train cars as a "storage capacity".

If I can't get my crops to the elevator, at least I'll have some decent hunting with corn standing in the field.

Down around KC, maybe half of the corn is out. All of the milo is still standing, and almost all of the beans are still in. Most of the beans are still green.

Southeast Iowa anybody??

The corn is coming out at a fast pace around me, they are calling for rain Mon, and Tues, so that will slow things down. Beans have a couple more weeks it looks like.

Jones, Jackson, Cedar county areas are primarily on the beans. Averaging 10-12%, some corn but not much, it's coming in right around 17-20% right now.

take some of our rain. we just got dumped on again friday night, turned the football field into a lake. We've lost about a 20'X300' chunk of clover field from our creek cutting into the bank from so much rain. all this rain is really gettin old up here.

Unfortuately from flying the past 7 days, I'd say harvest is in full swing all over Iowa. More corn out than beans. I only saw one bean field that still had any green in it. I even saw a few fields that were turned under and even some tileing being done.

I think it is a very early harvest this year. I could also tell the elevators were getting their, for lack of better term, "ground storage" areas ready.

Not to sound too much like a sissy boy, but the colors this fall, and I'm not talkin trees yet, are just beautiful. This year the hay/alfalfa fields, field water ways and pastures are still green with the contrasting earth tones of the crops and the black earth of a freshly turned field, Mother Nature paints with a palette exclusivley her own.

farmers are starting to test the corn up here in eastern SD. I got one report of it coming in at 27%... so a little while to go yet. The only guys hitting corn are the farmers with the 150,000 bushel grain bins and the big dryers.

Saw 1 bean field getting picked this weekend.

I'd say by next weekend they will be hitting the beans hard!

Driving from Iowa City primarily down Highway 1 to my farm in NE Davis County this weekend I thought there was a good level of harvest going on, particularly in Washington County. A fair amount of corn and beans coming out and even one field already fall plowed.

Unless weather or lack of storage interferes, this could be a quick harvest season.

Storeage is going to be a probelem in SE Iowa this year for many farmers. Corn yeilds are crazy high...talk of 250 to 270 bu/acre.

Corn and beans are both coming out big time this past week. More corn than beans though.

Get ready to sweep all the "lady bugs" off the floor. Those things get crazy down here when the beans come out.
