I’ve loaded my farms with apple, crabs, and pear varieties. I have no persimmon and know I’m missing out. Checking to see who you reccomend for purchasing from? What varieties are your money trees? What are the best conditions for planting and planting sites? Do you tube?

I’m boring on this one. I have some buddies that have great producers send me the seed.
If u want bulk seedlings - I think mo dnr nursery sells.
If u want the specialty ones… a few folks sell the grafted ones.
I do tube them. They are pretty robust on any growing site really. I just find some well drained black soil & have had no issues.
Persimmons as a whole are a bit more finicky to transplant or get started. Lose some. Once established - they do great

Have had very poor results in SE MN. I have a few hanging on but less than 10%. From my experience so far, I'd say they aren't meant to be planted in my area.

I'll 2nd DOR on this one. I've planted them here in SE MN as well as Wisconsin farm and had mediocre results over 4-5 years after planting. We dont own either farm any more but I think of the 15 I planted in Houston County MN, maybe 4 made it and that was with a lot of care trying to save them. I planted 4(5th year transplants) at my home farm last year and i lost 2 right away once the early cold hit this fall.

Tubed 25 bare root persimmon 2 years ago. NW Mo, not many survived, less than 10. Not sure if I got a bad batch, persimmon aren't as hardy as other trees, or something else....@
