Luck In Rut and I were Turkey hunting in NE Iowa. We were sitting at our camp looking up the hill and saw 8 deer running down the hill. They were running like something had spooked them. As they were crossing the creek, one of them ran into a tree branch that was laying on the ground. It got up, ran about 40 yds. and did the death wobble, fell over and died. We went up the road to where a State Trooper lived, had him come down and give us a salvage tag and ate the deer. It was a small button buck. The stick went in through it's chest by the left shoulder and stuck it in the heart. I didn't have a camera and it was warm so we butchered it right away. My uncle cut the stick off and I will post a picture when I get it. It was about 2 inches around and went into the chest about 8 inches.

talk about being in the right place at the right time.....

I think it was a life lesson with a hidden meaning. "Live every day to it's fullest because someday, when you are running through the woods, you may impale yourself on a stick and a couple of rednecks will eat you."

That's pretty funny.

How did you explain it when you got home? You went out looking for a 20 pound turkey and came home with 75 pounds of venison

Shredder and I were out in the timber and a hen turkey jumped out of the brush. She took off flying and ran smack into the middle of a tree and came out of the sky with a crash. We both looked at each other like WTF just happened???

Anyway, cool story on the deer...live everyday like it was your last!
