Some tree-hugging hippies will never get it. They sit in their apartments and bake their brain, and come up with ideas which at the time seem rational. How many tree loving, vegetable eating, animal worshiping people do you know? How many of them smoke pot habitually? I have no problem with peoples views as long as they are not drug induced. I have recently met a farmer and his family that grows organic vegetables and cares for the land very much, they even have silt fences in all of their streams around the crops. They are vegetarians and have recently given me permission to hunt their farm do to deer damage. I have all the respect in the world for these people even though they feel strongly about the earth and wildlife, they still see the BIG picture not just the killing part. The legacy of this great buck is now the excitement of all of us waiting for the story to break. The harvesting of this great buck just may have made the 15 year old boys dreams come true as well as his fathers!
Sorry for my tangent

How bout' this.
How many great "legends" through out history died by the sword? I bet alot. For the most part people don't remember how they met thier fate, but do know exactly what they are famous for.
I think Mr. Hanson should write about things he knows about like, Woodstock, pot, Volkswagon buses and the advantages and disadvantages of eating bark.
Leave the hunting stuff to people like us................

if he hadn't been killed, he couldn't be a record. i'm sure there are many, many deer walking though the woods, or have died in the woods somewhere, and who knows about them?? where is their legend??
deer are a renewable resource, like anything else. nobody cries when a farmer "mercellessly cuts down" his corn crop. what about the record book ear of corn that could have been growing in there

First of all, he said he can understand hunting to eat. I guess he assumed that the lucky young man was a trophy hunter at the ripe old age of 15. My guess is that he would have shot another nice buck that he had a chance to harvest if the opportunity presented itself. No one said he wasn't hunting for meat. His meat just happened to be the "Albia Buck".

Don't sweat it kid, we've got your back! Just remember, Opinions are like belly buttons and everyone you meet has one!

As for "Mr. Opinion", he would have an easier time understanding if he would get his head out of his....

And that is just MY OPINION!
