I just read and the Zaft buck has been panel scored by P&Y. and it was scored as a non-typical. The problem was the G-2 & G-3 were webbed together on the right side. It scored just alittle over 200 non-typical points after deductions.

Do you mind if I ask where you read this? I would like to read more about it.

There is somthing in the B&C and P&Y measuring system that is called the common-base rule. It is very touchy subject that is a judgement call by the measurer and can differ in opinions between measurers. It allows two tines to be joined where they meet the main beam.

I thought P&Y already accepted this as there new world record? Of course, the deer has to be panel measured at the next P&Y convention before they will put it in the books, but I didn't think the convention was till May? I might be wrong, but would like to read more about it.

I knew the convention was coing up but I didn't/don't when it is/was.

The P&Y Convention will be held the first weekend of May in Madison, Wi. This past weekend P&Y had a panel measuring session in Madison. I've not checked but there may be some info on the P&Y site.

That would be a huge setback for mr zaft! Not to say that this is buck is small, he is HUGE! Anyway, if anyone hear's any more on this, post it. I'm looking forward to the final judgement.

I dont see how they would make that deduction, and let the curt van lith buck stand. I really hope that someone on here can find a pic of the Lith buck, and just see what I am talking about...that bucks right g2 and g3 are touching for a few inches, and the zaft buck only touches at that base...?

I have yet to see a good shot of the G2, G3 on the zaft buck, they appear to fe fused, however, according the measuring system, on a common base point, it doesn't matter how far up they are fused. I hope im not making this any more confusing? I guess the easiest way to explain is, if you were to look at these pts from the top, and it makes a figure 8 at the base of the points, they are seperate. If it looks like an oval at the base, one point is consider typ and the other an abnormal. obviously, there is a more technical way of figuring this out, but I will not even try to explain. If you go to one of the forums listed above, a guy on there may explain it better. This is to bad, cause this is one heck of a nice buck!

by the way, here is the van lith buck. it was measured by one of the most respected measures for B&C, and then it had to be approved by B&C before they let it go as two typ points that just had a web inbetween them. Actually, even with the webbing, if you look close, you can see 2 tines rising up off the main beam.

I read the van lith buck was scored before the rule of the figure 8.

Here is a picture that clearly shows the point coming off the other. This photo was taken at a show where Zaft was showing off his deer.
