It can be done. What I do is drill holes up about 5" from the bottom of the tub to let excess water drain out. Then when it's excessively hot during summer, you can just dump a 5-gallon pail of water in the tub as needed.

groundhog/daikon radishes are a hit on my place. They're usually mowed down before winter and long gone before spring planting. It's not uncommon for them not to make it past September some years.

That can squeeze a lot of farmers since cash rent rates don't follow the commodity price trends. Most landowners aren't going to start taking less when the commodities halve in price.....
