Something I feel like I’m seeing more and more of in the whitetail hunting community is guys being super critical about what other people are shooting (not on this forum thankfully). I personally choose to chase more mature deer, but that’s my own choice. Everyone’s entitled to their own...
I’ve got an API climbing stand that I haven’t been using. Like new condition. Only been used a handful of times. Bought it two years ago from a guy that said he only used it twice. I’ve only used it 4 or 5 times since then. $150 Near Council Bluffs.

Thanks! That would for sure be something I’m interested in. Might be down the road a ways when i can set up more of an office set up and some podcast equipment.

This guy would come through the backyard every few nights in October a couple years ago. Only got night pictures of him until he chased a doe through the yard one day. Never saw him again after that.

Decided to make the jump into creating outdoors media with a podcast. Been thinking about doing this for a while and finally pulled the trigger. Just wanted to see if there was any interest from all the Iowa Whitetail guys.
The podcast is named The Iowan Outdoorsman on Spotify. I’ll look to...
Thanks everyone! Definitely has been a season to remember. All the ups and downs of a season definitely make it that much more rewarding when things go to plan. I still have my bow tag too so I’m hoping to connect on my first deer with a bow in the late split!

Opening weekend of gun 2 was a success!
Spent Saturday on public land near the Preparation Canyon unit with no luck. Too much hunting pressure and too many places for the deer to go I imagine. Decided to switch it up today and took a buddy up on an offer to hunt with his small group. (Big...
I don't believe arrow or bow setup was an issue, though I have since switched to a different arrow setup. I practice with my bow pretty often and I would say I'm very accurate out to 30, I don't take shots past that. I would say the issue rather is how I rushed the shot. I've since practiced a...
Figured I’d give my 2 cents on saddle hunting if anyone was curious about it.
Got a saddle last year, never got around to hunting in it until today. Wanted a low weight, easy to use system for public land. Ended up with the XOP. I believe it’s a renegade? I was really unsure about it until...
I would say I likely fall into that category. I still get a little bit of that adrenaline and excitement with every deer in range. I suppose that’s what it’s all about. I Just gotta learn to manage it a little better I think.

Hunter to hunter talk.
I grew up hunting shotgun season with my dad. Fell in love with the outdoors but more specifically deer hunting by the time I was 8. Picked up bow hunting at 15 years old and started to love the challenge. I’m 18 now and In the time between working for local farmers and...
