Decoy movement

Yes. Last year it worked great! I was calling for my dad and a monster bird hung up about 200 yards out. I started strutting the decoy with the 360 and the Tom came in running. 27lb 11in beard with 1.5 in hooks!

Risto,

I can't say enough good things about it. It is the absolute must have for me. I didn't have one bird not come into it. I would say it more than quadrupled my success with bringing in birds. The great thing is you dont even have to call. Wherever the bird enters the field, spin it facing right at him and keep swinging it side to side. They will come in.

The real proof to me is my story of the last day of the seaon in an area that gets absolutely pounded by hunters. I accidentally left the strutting 360 on all night long and didnt have a spare battery with me in the field in the morning. Since the battery was about drained I didnt get good distance with the remote control. I set it up about 10 yards from my blind but I didnt know I was out of range at the time.

3 boss gobblers and a dozen plus hens hit the field at first light about 200 yards away. The gobblers sat there strutting and stared at pretty boy for a good 20 minutes as the hens walked away. They wouldn't budge, I gave them every hail mary I had out of the ole slate call. The birds were now on a mission to follow the hens to the next county.

As they hit about the 350 yard mark I slowly inch by inch moved my blind towards the decoy when they were strutting away from me. I finally got within range of my remote control. I took out the ole nasty box call and cutt as loud as I could. All three toms perked up and looked at me. I could barely even see them they were that far. I turned the 360 towards them and started to do the side to side. I did that for about 30 seconds then I flipped it back around facing away from them.

All three birds went out of strut and ran as fast as they could into my set up leaving the hens behind. As luck would have it I missed two of em with my bow :) However, the pretty boy alone didn't bring them in, it was the strutting 360. We decoyed in tons of birds from distances I never thought imaginable with it.

The only thing bad about it is. it is underpowered for extremely windy days. The tail fan is too much like a parachute to make it work. When I say windy, I mean windy enough the double bull blind hubs start caving in.

And yes, Muddy is cheap.........

Muddy, if I had your money I would be able to afford a peep n tom decoy like you. :) Maybe we should go hunting together once and use the strutting 360 on the Peep N Tom :) Since we are both broke with young ones

I don't think Muddy is being cheap I just think he is being smart with his money!! :)

I just recently watched Wild Outdoors with Jay Gregory and he had a clip on how to set up a turkey to move.

Take your strutter and instead of putting it on the given stake use an old arrow. Put the strutter on the arrow, wrap the fishing string around the decoy three or four times, and then you have a decoy that will move. Make sure the decoy faces the tom at all times. Not sure about that part, however, wish I would have thought of that last year. I had a big one hang up on me and would have been nice to get him.

It looks like most of the ideas are around the same as this one, either way thought I would help out. :)

Well Muddy don't let them get you down, I like being cheap also. I have child support to pay so I have to find creative ways to save money. :)

I dont understand the peepn tom two heads on one bird I think that would freak them out. Plus what if a lone gobbler comes in then thinks theres two birds and runs off

In all honesty, I am the cheapest guy I know. I am practically made in China. I typically put 20 bucks every two week pay period into an envelope. At the end of the year I have about $500 dollars to spend on whatever I want for hunting. Last year it just happened to be the strutting 360.

Cooter, you won't be dissappointed at all. It is a lot of fun to hunt over. Don't worry about the minor noise you will hear inside the house. The birds won't hear it at all.

I have also found the strutting 360 doesn't have to be used just for turkey hunting. It actually works great as a predator decoy if you mount something on it and you can also mount a crow decoy on it for crow hunting.

Nahh,
Muddy is just being cheap.

As far as child support I feel your pain.
I paid for 15 years. I finally had the last one graduate
earlier in January. This will be my first check later this month
that will have a raise for me.

Looking to buy myself something and it might be the 360
and maybe the Dave Smith Decoys. :drink1:

Well my child support is going to be about 13 to 15 more years. Depending on College.

Either way its worth it is just hard.

Hmm $20 in the envelop isn't a bad idea!! I might have to try that.

I got my PeepinTom on sale for $50 and I sold my PrettyBoy for $50. You're still up on me the $90.

Though getting together would be fun, it's been a few years. Should seriously kick that around at the Classic if you're able to make it.

I seriously know what you mean.

Best money I ever spent on my boys.

I just had to pay to play is all.

Here are a few pics of the stake I use to make my strutter move. It is basically two pieces, bottom piece is a electric fence post that i cut down and welded the spade on better and rounded off all the corners. The top plastic piece is a decoy stake i think feather flex brand they are a two piece stake that is pointy on both ends I cut off one end and it slides over the metal stake. To make it move I super glued another piece of plastic to a "T" at the bottom and drilled two holes pretty simple really I think you can figure it out by the pictures. You just pull one or the other ropes to make it spin. Oh the little nail at the top I put that in there so if it's real windy the decoy just won't spin on the stake. I just drilled a hole in the stake put the nail through it, bent it and glued it in so it wouldn't move. I also wrapped a little athletic tape around the top of the metal stake so it wouldn't spin quite as easy. Before this season begins I plan on putting a small bolt in the top of the plastic stake so that I can tighten it down and not worry about the decoy falling off the stake on a real windy day.

SWIAbooner that looks like it would do a good job.:way:

Man the grass is green down your way, we have a half a foot of snow up here.

LOL yeah when I found those pictures today it about made me sick. I'm definitely ready for spring. I works real well, you don't get a full 360 but maybe 160 degrees both directions.
