This one got sprung fast!!! Same as last week…. This is the senate version of “kill all the deer year round - depredation” that farm bureau is behind 100%!! Same as house version Anyone that can go- fantastic!! Zoom otherwise & then writing to 3 asap on subcommittee If need notes- happy to give em! Thx! … **if can go, I’ll have contact info on who to meet up with and where Super easy I can have bullet points to anyone before going or before Zoom call …​

Caveat - While my answer contains truth, it may not be all of the truth. In other words, there may be more to this than I know...but I do know something. :)

I belong to an industry group that pays a lobbyist to monitor, advise, submit, etc, bills on our behalf in the Iowa Legislature. So I am pretty confident that a new idea can be introduced via a lobbyist. Now then, does that lobbyist write it up and then work through a legislator??? I am not sure of that level of detail. But...hiring a lobbyist is a primary way to go on offense.
 
From the Iowa Sportsmen Club website it does look like they are getting a bill introduced to end the celebrity tags.

What was the vote? I know Rozenboom wouldn’t vote for demise of the bill. Also. The house bill is still alive.

I heard it was Rozenboom who killed it, not sure on the vote. Hopefully someone who was there could chime in on what happened

I was there. Rozenboom killed it. Part of his synopsis and opposition was Agreeing with the fact that was brought up multiple times to them of bucks start shedding their antlers late December and heavily through January. He also agreed that the overabundance of deer is regional and the solution is not this new depredation season in January on top of the current depredation program.

The 2 worst bills of the year- so far… will be dead or are dead. The house version will not pass.
I am meeting with some folks on “all sides” to see if we can align on bills we can all get behind…
These bills that are non-sense, time wasting, insane, no rationale, logic-free, not thought through, no biological sense & no common sense … they gotta stop!! & make no mistake…. The fact that there’s only 2 this year, that’s no accident. The goal is: 0!!!
Now, on offense…. It’s coming. I think we have a good consensus on the “common sense” starting places.
Celeb tags for one. That’s one where it’s 99% consensus type stuff. Then we hit the next things like deer population stuff, common sense vast Majority can get behind. Shed buck season- got strategy on how we get rid of that. There’s 3 things in immediate path that absolutely need common sense change.

Have to give credit where credit is due: 1) YOU!!! You are the reason it’s a new game in town & we are WINNING!!!!!!!! Emails, SHOWING UP!!! (Those 2 things made HUUUUUGGGGGEEEE difference!!!!!)…. You have given us a lot of political capital too. Keep the feet on the gas!!! Keep helping & im right there with you guys!! Thank you!!!
2) democrats have been FANTASTIC as usual! (It’s so weird for me to say that!! Ha!! But it’s true!!!!). I have to give credit to way more R’s that are also with us. Really, the only ones not with us are small # of R’s & some special interests. About it.
3) ISC & IBA…. Guys, the stuff that’s been done, the pace at which we’ve changed the game & the movement being grown… INCREDIBLE!!! Thanks IBA & ISC & all u guys supporting them.
4) off of all of above the $$$$ given & $ to IBA/ISC…. It’s massive!!!!!! People say “$ ruins everything”….. well- it’s the $ we put towards this that’s a HUGE reason this machine is working. $ is a huge element that’s bringing us POSITIVE THINGS (absolute opposite of Ruining things!!) Don’t overlook the $ & thank you for those that fund this- HUGE!!!!
Really guys- this is just grass roots revolution of our Resource & how’s it’s managed. We absolutely are gonna KEEP IOWA GREAT!!!! There will be more battles & we are getting better at this every time!!! maybe someday we will lose one BUT….. we are WINNING!!!!! THANK YOU!!!!!!!!

Lee supports us 100% on EVERYTHING we stand for. I can’t think of one issue we have disagreed on and he wants to, has helped & will continue to help. Lee has seen ruined states & does not want that to happen to iowa.
Drury…. Who knows?!?!?! They have never really done much or stood for much. When u take crossbow $ & that level of sponsors & “set for hunting” ….. sometimes that’s the path those folks take. Lee is with us. Drurys pretty silent.
