What we had before was a “blended power”. Dnr advised & could have “opinions” & they worked with politicians to craft regs. Now it’s fully at the hands of politicians. No opinions allowed. It’s kinda like “do not speak unless you’re asked!” When legislator calls on them for data for example, they can provide it. They cannot express a position when it comes to wildlife regulations. Think of that. That’s crazy. I totally agree with all of above…. Bureaucracy run mad is NOT what we want. But, we want the DNR to have a say & opinions/expertise on wildlife regulations.

Exactly I was talking to my CO about how we had some county antlerless tags left after season and we both agreed with the EHD hit we took those tags shouldn’t be available and he admitted that his hands are tied and There’s nothing he can do about it. That’s definitely an instance where his input would be greatly beneficial. He’s the one with boots on the ground every day.

The 2 worst bills of the year- so far… will be dead or are dead. The house version will not pass.
I am meeting with some folks on “all sides” to see if we can align on bills we can all get behind…
These bills that are non-sense, time wasting, insane, no rationale, logic-free, not thought through, no biological sense & no common sense … they gotta stop!! & make no mistake…. The fact that there’s only 2 this year, that’s no accident. The goal is: 0!!!
Now, on offense…. It’s coming. I think we have a good consensus on the “common sense” starting places.
Celeb tags for one. That’s one where it’s 99% consensus type stuff. Then we hit the next things like deer population stuff, common sense vast Majority can get behind. Shed buck season- got strategy on how we get rid of that. There’s 3 things in immediate path that absolutely need common sense change.

Have to give credit where credit is due: 1) YOU!!! You are the reason it’s a new game in town & we are WINNING!!!!!!!! Emails, SHOWING UP!!! (Those 2 things made HUUUUUGGGGGEEEE difference!!!!!)…. You have given us a lot of political capital too. Keep the feet on the gas!!! Keep helping & im right there with you guys!! Thank you!!!
2) democrats have been FANTASTIC as usual! (It’s so weird for me to say that!! Ha!! But it’s true!!!!). I have to give credit to way more R’s that are also with us. Really, the only ones not with us are small # of R’s & some special interests. About it.
3) ISC & IBA…. Guys, the stuff that’s been done, the pace at which we’ve changed the game & the movement being grown… INCREDIBLE!!! Thanks IBA & ISC & all u guys supporting them.
4) off of all of above the $$$$ given & $ to IBA/ISC…. It’s massive!!!!!! People say “$ ruins everything”….. well- it’s the $ we put towards this that’s a HUGE reason this machine is working. $ is a huge element that’s bringing us POSITIVE THINGS (absolute opposite of Ruining things!!) Don’t overlook the $ & thank you for those that fund this- HUGE!!!!
Really guys- this is just grass roots revolution of our Resource & how’s it’s managed. We absolutely are gonna KEEP IOWA GREAT!!!! There will be more battles & we are getting better at this every time!!! maybe someday we will lose one BUT….. we are WINNING!!!!! THANK YOU!!!!!!!!
