    Missouri Survey on Non-Resident Hunting

Those charts seem to be pretty standard....everyone wants what is best for them. Residents interests vs. non-resident interests is an easy dichotomy to see.

    Hickory/Pecans

The pecans will do well down on the nodaway silt loam if any are going on your MO property. There's some pecans just south of you to justify the statement above.

    Hickory/Pecans

Never planted any, but have cut down a $hit ton. They're what comes back in the oak/hickory forests of the Midwest when oaks are logged since seedlings can lay in the shade for a long time waiting.

    Crop rent thoughts?

Not a great start if these break even prices hold true for most farmers. "In comparison, estimated national average break-even prices, the price needed to cover total production costs, i.e., variable and fixed production expenses, are approximately $5 per bushel for corn, $12.27 per bushel...

    Timber Stand Improvment

I'd just get it done. In my experience, it doesn't take deer long to recognize what that sounds means via a chainsaw....it's the dinner bell. After doing days of work at a time on my farm, deer have become accustomed and I'll see them standing off in the distance waiting for me to leave.

Giant Deer of Iowa are rapidly becoming a past memory

Another factor I've come to the realization with are the overly selective hunters. They'll pass 50 bucks to shoot a 150"+ and think it's a common deer. To me, there's 2 parts to this scenario: It's common for a good hunter to continually put big deer on the wall. It's not as common for...

    Osage orange trees

If I had a hedge thicket such as you describe: 1. Remove the locusts, except for any that are thornless. 2. Smoke all the honeysuckle to be found. 3. If any hedge can be cut and sold as fenceposts and left to resprout.

Giant Deer of Iowa are rapidly becoming a past memory

How many hunters are actually burning tags on older bucks many consider culls in 2-3 tag states? Here in MO, I don’t see anyone doing that with their one archery tag and one firearms any-deer tag. I see the majority of OOS hunters shooting/hunting “quality” bucks on both tags only. The...

Will a droptine buck throw it again?

I've seen it both ways. One buck will carry it for a few years and another buck may only have it for one year and never again.
