It's one of those Big Game drag sleds. Not really worth it on bigger deer. The sled is too small and the drag rope is too short. I figured I'd give it a shot since it was cheap and the last deer I shot I had to drag close to a mile.
I use Milo Locker. $75 for them to skin it and do all the basic cuts. My only qualm is the last deer I had processed took a bit longer than usual.

I set up in between a buck bedding area, in a river bottom, and a doe bedding area that eventually led to a private alfalfa field. This guy came cruising by about 2:30 on 11/20. I was still seeing good rut activity.
It is some drama but I guess where do I draw the line in pursuit of some nice deer.
I'm in the Des Moines area. Lots of public ground around which makes finding a spot kind of dizzying. I'm also worried about everybody and their brother being out there due to the large metro area.
The owner of the only piece of private ground that I have permission to hunt told me today I can't go out for the next 9 days because he's letting someone else hunt it. I'm a little annoyed since I've done all the scouting and hung most of the stands. With 4 days off coming up do I wing it and...
Shot a 10pt on 10/12. He followed 5 does into a hay field and was pushing them around. On 10/19 4 small bucks (4pt was the largest) were sparring in a field. I wanted to shoot a spike that was with them to fill an antlerless tag. I gave a few light rattles. They didn't care but 2 decent 8pts...
Anyone with a buck tag for Sycamore Trail or Johnston? I've been seeing a bachelor group with 3 shootable city bucks running around area C in Johnston and Sycamore trail on both sides of the interstate. Just an fyi.
