Do I agree with all of it? NOPE.
After 4 years of a complete train wreck…. In 18 months we got: a closed border. Deportations & crack down on crime. Lower gas prices- YES- even with recent spike we are down vs Biden. Interest rates down. How many wars ended? 7 or 8. Sure- the Iran thing is going on & history will reveal a lot more in future. Stopped DEI & trans in sports madness. Put in majority of rock stars in cabinet … vs Bidens flunkies & complete disasters. Madura out in 1 night & Venezuela on rebound. Fought back against big pharma ripping us off & got prices way down. Taxes lower & my refund was absolutely better. Priced are still high but we have slowed down the madness a ton. On & on.
I don’t agree with some things. But what human will we? Or what president will there not be things to rag on? Deficit needs help. Big time!!! Want to see Iran ended with a WIN & get out. I personally Could care less about the tweets or comments that hurt peoples feelings. He’s been for 18 months- we shall see how it goes.
On flip side…. 4 years of the vegetable. I agreed with about nothing the people in charge of him or that changed his diapers did. Worst president of my lifetime. Our country & world were on fire & complete chaos- by almost any metric I don’t know how those clowns could have run the country any worse. Obama, both bush’s & Biden…. Come on…. THAT was a group of poor quality presidents that will not go down as great ones.
To trash Trump is ridiculous. Of course he’s got all of media, Hollywood & left wing loons that will never stop until he’s dead…. Or they will trash him forever as that’s all they obsess & think about. The noise & hatred are so loud you can’t escape it. They are unhinged. Why loons have tried to kill him 3 times now. I think when the smoke all clears we’re going to see this was more about China than it was about Iran or Israel. And even if it’s not… I’ve been hearing all my life how bad Iran was and how it’d be WW3 if we took them on. Less than 60 days in ?? 20 of which have been a ceasefire?? they currently don’t have the firepower they had 50 years ago.
I sure wouldn’t go back to 2024 and change my vote.

Back to original post of Lahn.. I love that he is bringing attention to several issues.. My main issue with him is he is obviously an extremely intelligent and connected person and yet is also seemingly naive to the other side of the argument on several of his pet peeves.. I don’t believe he is not bright enough or so unaware of the facts to not understand the other side.. so that makes me question some of his motives.. the guy literally got his start in politics working for the political wing of the Koch brothers and acts naive to the benefits of modern agricultural practices and the benefits of synthetic fertilizers.. sorry, not buying it. I did contract work for Koch for a long time and find it odd someone as connected as him is so ignorant to so many things.

We were on the brink of collaps and were a real embarrassment as a country and I cant even begin to image where we would be today if the Joke of presidential candidate was elected.

Could you fill me on on examples of his ignorance/naivety to modern ag? He farms himself. Small farm, but he does farm. So he's not completely removed from or clueless of the industry.
He rags on the chemical industry hard but not unfairly, IMO. ChemChina (Chinese state owned) owning one of the big three chemical/seed companies we use is a little..... concerning, is it not? A main adversary, so closely tied to the American farm? I don't love it. Not to mention the buying of our land which is another big topic that he is all about which I love.
From a health stand point, from what I've heard from him, he just wants transparency. If this stuff is causing serious health problems, we should know about it and the farmer should have the information to decide whether applying a certain product is worth the potential health impacts to him, his family, and neighbors. The hand-wavey attitude by ag companies and Universities (looking at you Iowa State, Kansas State, Purdue, Illinois, Nebraska who these big ag companies have their thumb on, mind you) and their cavalier attitude about the safety of these products to consumers and users is hard not to notice. We talk a lot about lobbyists on this site..... big ag knows how to lobby. Just like big pharma did with the 'rona shot, ag companies do the same thing. I don't think I've ever heard him say ag chemicals should be eliminated all together and everyone should go back to walking beans. Just that we need to dive into this more and truly understand the impacts it is having on us and our environment. Do real studies and figure it out.
Synthetic fertilizers, same thing, I don't think he's advocating for all nitrogen production to cease, nor advocating for all tile to be ripped out of the ground. Again, if he's saying otherwise, fill me in. I work in ag, grew up on a farm, and see it every day. Nitrogen use efficiency is embarrassingly bad. We apply too much nitrogen. Period. Tools exist to help you manage nitrogen significantly better but too many people still subscribe to the idea that you must apply 1 lb of N to grow 1 bushel of corn and that's just wrong. I understand N application is a logistical challenge as much as it is an agronomic challenge but most could improve SIGNIFICANTLY.
I did hear on one podcast, can't remember which one. Maybe Shawn Ryan. The host said something about all the farm ground Iowa has and we import pretty much all our food... wtf why, etc. I would have liked him to push back on that. I agree that we have made it way to easy to grow corn and soybeans and some diversification would be good. But a lot of specialty crops require certain weather, soil types, etc. to grow well that Iowa doesn't have. But not all of them. So in that regard yeah, I wish he would've piped up a little. But other than that, genuinely asking, what is he ignorant or naive about?

The stock market hit a record again today …Since I was driving back from Iowa to Minnesota, I had Sirius XM on (the financial channels).
Both Fox & CNBC stated that corporate profits hit an all time record in the first quarter of 2026!
This is one reason why the stock market is doing so well. The doom and gloom reports are just political propaganda that are not based on real numbers .

And gas went up .30 in 2 days and broke $4.30 here...but yeah my retirement accounts are doing decent. And nobody but the top 1% care about corporate profits being an all time high. Ask the average voter how they are feeling lately. Anyone middle class. Someone who isn't propagandized by MSNBC, CNN, or Fox.

Cmon now … nobody cares about record profits ? Take a step back and think about what you posted. That means the economy is growing and expanding at a high rate .
Corporate profits at all time high and you think it only benefits the 1%? The bottom line is this is a solid economy for most people . There are some struggling as always …
The last bad economic yr was 2022. US had 9% inflation, a -33% NASDAQ, & a recession
2026 … 3.3% inflation, NASDAQ up 11.8% no recession.
Oil is at $75 a barrel today !

Respectfully, you're still missing my point. Average people don't care about those numbers, they care about THEIR numbers. Utilities, insurance, groceries, rent/mortgage, gas, and enough to take the kids on an average summer vacation. That's where people are actually feeling it and not just seeing numbers on a newsroom ticker banner and talking heads.

It looked like a political post, with no numbers to back up your claim . The only statistic you posted was that gas went up in the past two months …after being consistently lower compared to the previous anti-oil Biden/Harris administration !
