    Frost seeding and cold?

Have you ever used a no-till drill? I thought the Brillion was "the sh*t" until I used a drill. Still like it best for frost seeding clovers but for summer/fall food plots, the drill is great b/c no tilling involved. Just load up and plant right into whatever. Then spray dead the competition...

    Cereal Grains and cover crops

And those perennial clover strips around the edges and between sections serve an important function of turnaround areas when planting. It's PAINFUL to us wanna-be farmers to have to have to make turns in our growing brassicas when tilling or even no-tilling into the to-be rye mix areas.....!!!

    Frost seeding and cold?

If you've got a 1-ac clover field already established, I'd wait until thaw and get soil samples and then apply what you need based on those results. But if you're thinking of establishing a 1-ac clover field, with the 1-ac bean field, and 1/2-ac brassica right nearby, my advice would be...

    Frost seeding and cold?

My reply was to Hans1. But for smaller areas, and actually more often than not, we usually seed either by hand-seeder or via ATV-mounted seeder. However you do it, just want to get as even a spread as possible. We usually go N-S, then E-W, covering each area twice just to be thorough. Works...

    Frost seeding and cold?

Brillion is an awesome way to "meter" out just to right amount of seed .....and in nice even rows....when frost seeding. Great implement!! Good luck.

    Grouping problems?!

I had same problem with same gun. Had it back to Ruger twice. Finally sold it. Same with a Ruger Ranch rifle / .223 about 5 years ago. Ruger actually bought that one back from me. Their guns aren't "all that".......

    Savage muzzleloaders

Any other load advice? Seems that 5744 is pretty tough to find these days, but lots of Savage 10ML shooters seem to like it.

    Herbicides

Pathfinder-II is what some have used successfully as a basal bark spray. If tree is >5" diameter than cut/treat needed. But good luck....my farm in PA is full of it. Way too invasive to treat. I'm just living with it.

keeping the bugs off the apple trees?

Skip......You are a very smart dude!! I'd never heard of Permethrin on tree fruit, but seems it's pretty popular. Thanks for that info. Here's a link to a discussion and what looks like a decent website on home orchard type spraying topics...

keeping the bugs off the apple trees?

Yes and no, in my opinion. Thing is, there are a variety of standard tree fruit insecticides out there. However, the premixed "home orchard" types generally use either Malathion or Sevin, or a combo of both. That's it......and that's the problem. Lots of insects are resistant to those...
