For revenue generating and managing the damaged Iowa deer herd maybe the powers that be should consider closing the deer season to residents and adding 5,000 more NR licenses at roughly $500 each for a few years! Can't wait to party hunt the late doe/ shed buck season with my new 223 with a 30...
Who would ever change a program that allows all your buddies/celebrities come hang with you and go hunting. I've been singing Country in the shower so I can go after one of these tags!
And the NRs will be a non-issue! Tracy is right. Iowa hunters need to let them know the deer herds are in trouble and you're not happy with how they are handling it!
If they double the price of the tags I would think they would only loose about 10 to 20% of their sales and reduce the pressure on the deer herd while actually increasing revenue! If the herd gets to the point where they think more NR licenses will fix the problem it will be too late!
The IBA is willing to sell a NR license every year to the highest bidder and so are other groups in Iowa. I know lots of residents that think NRLO should be allowed to buy a license to hunt their own property each year.
I think Iowa would be better off if they just created a NRLO license that would allow the owner to hunt his property each year with a bow or gun and shoot one buck and a doe. This would eliminate almost all the questionable-residents and the witch hunt that is now occurring. Do you think it is...
Do you think this was money well spent by the state of Iowa? Thousands of dollars in taxpayer money spent to get these three guys that were spending lots of $$$$ in Iowa putting in food plots and compling with the rules to their best understanding. If corn prices continue to drop and the farm...
You have to look no further than your own DNR for the number of NRLO and NR hunters. When the Iowa deer herd was recovering they conducted Governor hunts and continue to supply TV hunting celebs with annual tags so they can spread the word on big Iowa white tails. It is good for the business of...
Hmmm. Then I could become MN2ILGuy and sell my land to another NR since apparently no residents will be able to afford it. Oh wait... I can afford to hunt every year in Iowa because I can buy one of your conservation licenses. The IBA or another non-profit group is happy to sell one to me!:)
Some Iowa residents contribute almost nothing to the state. You could be in all kinds of state assisted programs and be a resident. I'm not sure why a lot of you take pleasure in all of this? There are a lot worse things going on that don't come close to a few out of state guys trying to get...
