    Shotgun 1 or 2 ?

If you are hunting private, either one. Shotgun2 is longer, which is nice. First season though could put you in contact with some late rut action.

    Under growth food plot?

Does anyone have any experience putting in a food plot under trees? It looks like the only spot on the land I have permission to hunt, is on a hilltop flat that is pretty open. There just isn't any place to put a plot in that has direct sunlight, so I'm looking at the only option I've got...

    entry and exit doesnt match

I supposed the blades could have come off inside, which would only show a small exit wound from the tip.

Did you get a deer yet? I was out tonight and finally saw a small buck chasing a few does. Ran them off the field, and wasn't interested in grunts or a snort weeze.

    Latest Card Pul

Seen lots of bucks on camera between 3am and 8am both Friday and Saturday morning. Here's the nicest buck I saw on there. What do you think on age and score? I'm thinking 4.5 year old that will score in the 140's.

need some anatomy advice and consoling

If your brother has a bow tag as well, maybe you both should take a bow out and slowly stalk into that brushy area if he's still in there. It might give both of you a shot at him if he limps out of there.

    Anhydrous and deer?

I don't know anything. But I'm sure you'll still see deer if its known to have a lot. Then you can report back and let us know.

    Favorite Shoulder Mount Pose?

I would consider a fully upright pose where he is looking straight ahead if you want to show off the width.

    Need opinions! mad as heck!

I would count yourself blessed to have 80 acres of private land to hunt. That's about 80 acres of private land more than the majority of deer hunters in Iowa. I would say that you could swallow your pride, put on your big boy panties and park in a different spot. Otherwise I'd probably side...

    Boots

I just bought some of these lacrosse boots. They are quite warm. I couldn't figure out why my feet were cold the first time I got them. Then I realized that I was wearing merino wool socks and my feet got sweaty on the way in. So yes they are very warm boots.

    Maps

These are the types of maps that I make for the land that I hunt. Today is the first time I've put the topo map on one to see how it looks. Let me know if you want me to make a map for your land. PM me if you do. I'll do it for a fee because it takes a bit of work, but it's worth it in the...

I hunt about a mile and a half east of Don Williams on the blacktop that takes you into Boone on the North end. Where do you hunt?

    good topo site?

This is the site I use to make my maps. I take an arial satellite photo as the base photo, then overlay the same area with a hill shade photo at about 25% transparency. Looks awesome. I'll try to post one that I did last year. Just need to go to work to do so.

    Rattling

I don't know if I've seen anything on here about this. If there is, sorry for the repost. When is it too late to stop rattling? I'm going out tomorrow and Friday and am wondering if it is too late.

    good topo site?

PM me your coordinates, and I'll work up a sweet arial photo that has the hill shade overlaid on top. It gives a sweet, almost 3D rendition of your land. I'm sure I could try to overlay the topography somehow too.

    Post rut/Post shotgun season

Well, unless i fill my tag on Tuesday, it's looking like I'll have the week and a half before first shotgun season and after shotgun seasons to fill my tag. Anyone have late season success with a bow? Do I just pattern the hell out of them and set up where I know they'll come out to feed? It...

Are the deer gonna move in this rainy weather?

Saw and heard absolutely nothing yesterday and today in Boone county. Not sure what happened, as Friday a rattled in a small 8 huffing and puffing and ready to fight. The next morning couldn't be more different.
