    Headlamps

I have one of Lem's Lights. I have no idea how to get a hold of the guy. Its a super bright LED lightweight and holds a charge forever it seems like. I think he is from southern Iowa someplace.

    Cwd again

I should have stated I plan on shooting 3-5 deer this year because that's what I have done for the past 15 years or so. The farms I hunt on farmers want deer shot, it just so happens that I am in a CWD zone. I don't plan on shooting more than normal, but I guess you never know, I might. I...

    Cwd again

I can only speak for Clayton county, but around here there are getting to be gobs of deer. The pockets where the deer are off limits entirely or on highly managed ground are thick as flys. I feel like they are trying to maintain that balance and slow the growth of the herd. If we don't start...

    Brassicas in standing corn

I went over the top of some beans at the end of July, anywhere the sun is hitting the ground the brassicas look great, anywhere there was too much shade it was a wast of money, time. I won't do it again unless I have big gaps I need to fill in. You might have to worry some about herbicide if...

    Beans and Brassicas

Beans are knee high right now. I used an old 1240 john deere with 42 inch rows so there should be plenty of light hitting the ground for the brassicas to grow.

    Beans and Brassicas

I haven't tried it yet. My hope is actually that they don't touch it till late winter, if it doesn't work the beans will still be there and turnips.

    Beans and Brassicas

My plan is to broadcast some turnips and Rapeseed into standing beans in a couple weeks.

    Beans and Brassicas

Probably depends on how you are going to plant it. The beans will probably need to be covered a bit more than the Brassicas. If you are going to just broadcast the soybean emergence might not be the greatest with out a pretty good rain. If you are going to drill them in, I would just go for...

RESPOND NOW!!!! Suggestions from any hunter!!!

I guess the reason for the early season public. Is more just early season hunts over something besides food plots. If a guy wants to leave some honey holes alone until later in the season, but still wants to do something in Early Oct to Mid Oct. If I have time my plan is to find some oaks in a...

Are the pointy things seed pods or leaves? Either way it looks to me like a mower would work good on control.

S.E. Iowa Land prices on the rise!

If you have plenty of money, where do you want to park it? Saivings account? Nope, The paper stock market? but you probably already have plenty of that, how much exposure do you want? or something that you can stand on, touch, and is real? Land won't drop much. It will always cost too much...

    The old way...

I personally have decided a year or two ago, to just go back to shooting deer and having a good time. If I get lucky and a big one comes by hopefully my aim is true. Otherwise a small buck will still be just as much fun. The horns still get displayed at the camp, and actually I have a better...
